CMP - Civilian Marksmanship Program
COAL - Cartridge OverAll Length (variation of OAL)
DEWC - Double Ended Wad Cutter (bullet shape)
DR - Distinguished Revolver (NRA match)
EIC - Excellence in Competition (CMP match)
FMJ - Full Metal Jacket (bullet type)
FP - Firing Pin
FTE - Failure to Eject
FTE - Failure to Extract
FTF - Failure to Feed
FTF - Failure to Fire
HBWC - Hollow Base Wad Cutter (bullet shape)
HPSWC - Semi Wad Cutter Hollow Point (bullet shape). See also SWCHP .
JHP - Jacketed Hollow Point (bullet shape)
JSWC - Jacketed Semi Wad Cutter (bullet shape)
LL - Long Line (50 yds)
LRN - Lead Round Nose (bullet shape)
LSWC - Lead Semi Wad Cutter (bullet shape)
NPOA - Natural Point of Aim (Where the pistol naturally aligns into the eye's line of sight.)
NMC - National Match Course  Consists of 1 SF, TF, and RF
NRA - National Rifle Association
OAL - Over All Length
P100 - President's 100
POA - Point of Aim
POI - Point of Impact
Reeves Match - NMC fired with any center fire revolver
RF - Rapid Fire Match 10 shots fired in two strings of 5 ten seconds per string
RN - Round Nose (bullet shape)
RO - Range Officer (safety officer working at range)
RO - Springfield Range Officer (models of 1911-style pistol made by Springfield Armory)
SF - Slow Fire Match  10 shots in 10 minutes
SFC - Shooting Federation of Canada / Canadian Olympic Committee Member
SFC - Sergeant First Class
SL - Short Line (25 yds)
SWC - Semi Wad Cutter (bullet shape)
SWCHP - Semi Wad Cutter Hollow Point (bullet shape). See also HPSWC.
TF - Timed Fire Match 10 shots fired in two strings of 5 twenty seconds per string
TG - Hogdons Titegroup (smokeless powder)
UCPSGA - Unofficial Camp Perry Super Grand Aggregate (defunct)
USA Shooting - National Governing Body for the sport of shooting / United States Olympic Committee
VV - Vhita Vuori (smokeless powder)
Wad Gun - Pistol with sights removed and dot/scope mounted on rail or frame. Can shoot either WC, SWC, FMJ or HP ammo. The dot/scope makes it a Wad Gun. Not the ammo.
WC - Wad Cutter (bullet shape)
WLP - Winchester Large Pistol primers
WSF - Winchester Super Field (smokeless powder)
WSL - Winchester Super Light (smokeless powder)
WST - Winchester Super Target (smokeless powder)
WWB - Winchester White Box (brand of ammo)


Reading the posts, I've found there's a few abbreviations and terms that I don't know. A list would be a great thing to have.
Respond with additions and corrections and I'll try and maintain the list above.

Maybe there's an easier way and there's an existing list I've missed somewhere.

DR   Distinguished Revolver        NRA match
SFC  Sargent First Class             Well, that's what it means to me

RF      Rapid Fire   10 shots fired in two strings of 5 ten seconds per string
Reeves Match   NMC fired with any center fire revolver

As for the terms you already have... FTE can mean either failure-to-eject, or failure-to-extract.  RO means Range Officer, which is traditionally a title of someone working on a firing line, but in this forum, it usually refers to a Springfield Range Officer, which is a model of 1911-style pistol made by Springfield Armory (now an entire line of models).

As for some terms to add... SL = short line (25 yds), and LL = long line (50 yds). WLP = Winchester Large Pistol primers.  POA = point-of-aim. P100 = President's 100. WWB = Winchester White Box (brand of ammo).  ASYM = ammo manufacturer.  

If the purpose is to help newbies using this forum, it might be worth adding definitions for some terms that you see in this forum that are not necessarily abbreviations, like ball ammo, Distinguished, Leg, Leg Points, Leg Out, Master, High Master, sight alignment, sight picture, red dot, sight rail, trigger shoe, front strap, back strap, slide racker, dry firing, SCATT, Ransom Rest, 2700, Camp Perry, President's 100, Precision Pistol, PPC, headspace, short line, long line, reloads, reloading press, reloading die, crimp, seating depth, primer pocket, swaged, factory ammo, creep, overtravel, roll trigger, etc.  Also, the various targets (B-16, B-8, etc).

I actually find that entry quite bad.
The page really should be updated to point to a "NRA Precision Pistol" page with any other names pointing to there.

Then the way it is written is somewhat confusing IMO.

Probably tons of former military on here and no one notices "sergeant" spelled incorrectly?
