S W Long - 32 S&W Long Brass Empty 32 S&W Long Brass

Post by fc60 2/28/2019, 2:43 am

Greetings,

I was surfing the 'net for once fired 32 S&W Long brass.

Strangely, most all vendors were sold out.

Another curious thing was that all the brass offered was mixed head stamp. "Bogus, Dude."

Some good news, Brownells has Lapua brass on sale with free shipping. $200.00 per box of 1000. "Two snaps and a twist."

Cheers,

Dave

That's a really good price. I felt lucky to find 1500 pieces of once fired Lapua for $215. When I was looking for brass before I remember $275 per 1000 about the best I could find for new Lapua. Also R-P brass is near impossible to find.

Starline has new stuff in stock.

Have you folks noticed much difference between brands? What are the differences?

What do you prefer, and why?  I'm trying to learn more about it.

Dave, I'm working on making a big batch of twice-fired Federal .32 S&W Long brass, and this batch has your name on it. I just bought a new tool expressly for this purpose.

You can thank me later.

For me, the only issue making once or twice fired 32 brass is/was the % loss due to the 32 ejecting maybe 30’ or so.  Even my CMM brass catcher doesn’t get them all.  Walther sells a brass catcher which attached to the gun, eliminates any loss entirely, I just use them initially for SL practice. I isolate a couple hundred and label by number of times fired for the LL/testing. For the SL I don’t notice any difference.

Starline is +P style brass and crushes in the base of hbwc or worse bulges the brass at the base of a cast wc

Winchester is next in line but not as bad. Best is Lapua Fiocchi, and R-P.

You can test it yourself as Dave (FC60) suggests bybusing a drill bit of close bullet size as a depth gauge.

Good luck

Last time I was at Ft Benning, Poole range had a 20 gallon bin full. Wouldn't that be nice?

I got a tool that solves that problem.

How does this work for you? They also have Lapua and Starline in stock.

https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/74097

They had 32 by the barrel when I was in Benning too. And Nixon was President
