revolver guru's ?
Maybe someone can make sense of this, When I shoot the Horiday 148 HBWC's .358 I get leading where the forcing cone and the rifling meet . If I shoot Magnus 148 HBWC's .357 my forcing cone is pretty clean maybe a spec or 2 of lead here and there but my cylinder throats get fouled .....I cant understand why the larger dia bullet doesnt foul the cyclinder throats at all but the smaller bullet does. I believe my throat are like .357-.3575 which is why I started using .357 dia slugs....as Ive read bullets should be sized to the cylinder throats.....any ideas?

Blow by ?
The Honady bullets are knurled so is it possible that some of the gasses are blowing by through the knurling ane on the Magnus it's not?
Funny thing is I have just the opposite problem. Magnus 148 grian DEWC's lead my barrel (I know it's not the HBWC's your using) where the Hornady 148 grain HBWC's shoot just fine with no leading. The best 148 grain that I have found are Remington's HBWC's. They're accurate but a pain in the a$$ to deal with because they are dirty.

Re: revolver guru's ?
Virgil ,
What powder do you use with the Horiday ? I had been useing WST , which is a slower burning powder but went back to BE with the idea the faster powder would maybe? be better for forcing the HBWC to size . I dont get any lead in my barrel with either bullet but I believe the powder choice is whats causing it the difference in location of the fouling.....I am gonna try the hornidy again with BE as well as get some Rem's . I believe the horniday to be about .005 bigger than my throats while the magnus is .005 smaller....

Re: revolver guru's ?
I use Bullseye powder with my HBWC's. For a long time I used 2.8 and got good results. Now I use 2.7 of BE and my results are even better accuracy wise. This is at 50 yards and I had a hard time believing the results that 1/10 of a grain would make but for me it's been impressive. No more leading or fouling even after a couple hundred rounds and better accuracy than the 2.8 load.

Re: revolver guru's ?
HOW MUCH WST ARE YOU USING?
2.7 WST IS GREAT WITH MOST SWAGED 148GR HBWC .
REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE BULLET IN THE CASE LONG ENOUGH FOR THE SKIRT TO SWELL TO SEAL THE BORE. SEAT THE BULLET FLUSH OR A LITTLE BELOW FLUSH AND USE A ROLL CRIMP OR THE REDDING PROFILE CRIMP DIE. JP
