How much powder
Hi
I have been using 3.5 grains of bullseye with a 200 gain bullet.
Having trouble getting the gun back on target with rapid fire and it was suggested to me "continue to lower your charge untill the gun won't work " that will reduce muzzle jump.
Question is does this make sense ? Logically yes but I know nothing about ballistics and maybe the bullet will be less accurate.
Any thoughts on this greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tom

Re: How much powder
More effective dropping the weight of the bullet. Try some 185 cast bullets with your 3.5 BE.

Tom, Thats a pretty light load in a 45 and I am assuming that is what you are shooting. How tight or firm is your grip? Typically, the experts suggest to tighten your grip till your hand starts shaking, and then then relax just enough to stop the shakes. That about how firm your grip should be. For me, the firm grip was the trick in controlling the 45. Other than that, training, training, training.

I also recommend going to a 185 grain. Magnus has a nice button nose 185 grain which is #801 and their #814 swaged hollow point are both good bullets. Really any H&G 68 style bullet in the 180-185 range is sure hard to beat.

OK thanks
I have tried gripping pretty tight, but my shakes increase so I back off some.
Will try different bullets next order.
Train every day.
Thanks , Tom

Try the lighter bullets and loads and see if that helps. I will say that a 45 will never feel like a 22 (that’s the whole point of shooting a 45 match). One has to learn how to shoot it....just my 2 cents. Train.

Its not just grip and your wrist.. I'm always amazed at.the AMU shooters when they come and visit. The overall stiffness of their arms and shoulders is fun to watch

Re: How much powder
Along with a 185 bullet, try WST powder. It's slower burning than BE, and the recoil isn't as snappy. I use 3.8 WST and a 185 Magnus swaged LSWCHP. Soft and accurate as you will find with a 45.
