What do you guys rest your pistol on in between shots?

Re: Pistol Rest
I use one of these padded mats and put a microfiber on top of it. It all rolls up and goes in my box.

Re: Pistol Rest
I cut a piece of carpet to fit in the bottom of my box. I place it on the bench as a place to rest the pistol between strings. In slow fire, I use a small section of 4x4 to rest between shots - so as to not change grip.

Re: Pistol Rest
I'm not looking for a mat. I want something that I can rest the trigger guard or muzzle on in between slow fire shots while still gripping the gun. Brian Zins in this video is using a block of wood. I would like something a little different. That's why I was asking for ideas.spursnguns wrote:Hello ssauer2004,

Re: Pistol Rest
I use a block of closed cell foam packing material about 2x4x6 to fit in gun box.

Re: Pistol Rest
I use a yoga block. It works well to rest the pistol for different bench heights, and it’s padded, so I also use it to set my pistol on while scoring

I use a protektor leather rabbit ear bag filled with air soft pellets
https://www.amazon.com/Protektor-Model-Rabbit-Ear-Rear/dp/B00JD56I4K/ref=sr_1_2?crid=FX1JF7O7Z56P&dchild=1&keywords=protector+bag&qid=1598477423&rnid=2941120011&s=sports-and-fitness&sprefix=protecktor%2Caps%2C186&sr=1-2
not only is it a nice place to rest the gun between shots or targets, it holds the gun when I am cleaning it and also is a nice rest when zeroing pistols or ammo testing.
Regards,
Crankster

I wrapped a dishtowel around a 1" dowel and hold it with a couple of zip-ties. It makes about a 2-2.5" diameter. The front of the trigger guard and the dust cover rest nicely on it. Low benches I set it on an ammo box.

+1. I do the same thing. Trigger guard rests in one of the holes.

My Wally World $5 yoga block rest
I did this rest about 2 years ago when I started our local indoor league. I picked up a yoga foam block at my local WW for $5. I figured I couldn't go too wrong with a $5 investment. With some blue tape, felt pen, gun (Benchmark) and a straight edge I started in. After the lines were drawn, over to my little band saw, then a 1" wood rasp and I was done in about 30 minutes. The only mod I have made was to add some additional height which was made out of the "top waste" piece that I squared off using the band saw. As you can see, it's simple and holds a multitude of guns. If you are using a revolver, you will need to drill a hole in line with the ejector rod.
It's simple, cheap, pretty stable and easy to make, it works and doesn't have any hard edges to mar the finish.
