Alliant Bullseye Powder
Where's everyone getting their Alliant Bullseye Powder at? The prices on GunBroker are ridiculous but it's out of stock everywhere else. Finding this and Large Pistol Primers is like finding hen's teeth.

Bullseye and primers
You are right Bullseye is out of stock with most locations but be patient powders are coming into stock and not flying off the shelves like a year ago. BE-86 seems to be in stock in multiple places (Powder Valley, Brownells) and might be a substitute in the mean time. As to primers Target Sports USA has Federal large pistol primers for $599 for 5000 with free shipping, yes it is kind of high but not overly outrageous, depends on how many you have now and how long you can wait. Supply is starting to catch up to demand.
Best of luck to you and good shooting

Re: Alliant Bullseye Powder
BE-86 is more like Unique in speed than Bullseye. It can be loaded down, but more powder weight is required for a given fps, but that’s not necessarily bad.
That said, there are plenty of other options out there that give good accuracy and the correct velocity range. They are:
WST, Accurate #2, Titegroup, Red Dot, Hodgdon Clays, Sport Pistol, 231, HP-38.

Re: Alliant Bullseye Powder
What do you think is the best alternative to Bullseye Powder for shooting at both 25 & 50 yards with a Bayou Bullets Gold 45 ACP 200 Gr. SWC. I'd prefer around 4-5 grains so it'll measure out and flow well through the powder measure. Trying to keep around 770fps

Re: Alliant Bullseye Powder
Hodgdon has both 231 and HP-38 in stock currently.
Brownell's and Midway also have HP-38 in stock in 1lb and 8 Lb containers.
Both will give about 770 fps with a 200 grain SWC at 4.4 grains of powder.

BE Powder
Brownells had 1 lb. containers of BE powder with no limits. It was pricey at $41/lb. Keep checking back with them as things appear to be opening up.

Re: Alliant Bullseye Powder
The following image is data from a chronograph session a couple of years ago. I was testing 4powders as candidates to sub for BE. Constant grain weights of powder were used and all bullets were 200 gr cast. The velocities were taken using a 10 inch Contender barrel. The “Quickload” for Red Dot and BE were confirmations and pressure data of these two powders. Anyway, it shows that other powders give similar results. Note that 452AA is a much older powder but is similar to WST. In my accuracy test using my match wad gun, the powders ranked 452AA and BE tied for best, then 700X and then Red Dot, but all were acceptable.MaddMaxx1979 wrote:What do you think is the best alternative to Bullseye Powder for shooting at both 25 & 50 yards with a Bayou Bullets Gold 45 ACP 200 Gr. Re: Alliant Bullseye Powder
I've had fair luck buying direct from Hogdgon on their website. Might wait a couple months but I've gotten my WST and 700X with a month or two's wait on the notify list. They don't disappear quite as quick as primers.

Come to the Durham Pistol and Rifle or Sir Walter Gun Club Bullseye Matches in North Carolina. We give out several pounds couple of times a year.

Re: Alliant Bullseye Powder
Primer prices are outrageous - as costly as some 22 LR. You’d think organized crime would be all over this market.
Even at $41 per lb, powder is just a fraction of the cost of just the primer.

They probably are. With the tons of scam websites out there selling primers, they're probably run by Russian Mobsters.RodJ wrote:Primer prices are outrageous - as costly as some 22 LR. You’d think organized crime would be all over this market.
