Nitro 100NF
with everyone searching for powder it seems I'll pass alone a few loads we have tested with Nitro 100NF.
very quick flake powder. close to VV310 on the burn charts. DO NOT confuse this version with the older and much slower version of N100. this load data is all for the New Formula version.
180 gr Brazos SWCFB 4.0,3.7,3.5, and 3.3 of N100NF.. 4.0 felt very similar to Bullseye at 4.0. 3.3 and 3.5 functioned just fine in my slide mounted dot wad gun.. 10lb recoil spring, 19 lb mainspring.
200 Brazos SWCBB 3.7, 3.5 and 3.3gr. all shot well and functioned fine in my pistol.
we have some of these loads scheduled to be tested in a barrel tester soon and will add the results to this thread..
seems to be a decent powder for our type of loads but is a bit smoky All of the above loads are at or below AA suggested starting loads for those bullets. Load data from AA shows a somewhat narrow powder weight range as this is a quick powder and builds pressure quickly. the lower loads with the 2 bullets were very mild recoiling.

Jimmy, thank you for putting this out.
When you say slide mounted dot, are you using a micro, 9000, 30mm match dot or a 1” Ultra dot?

Re: Nitro 100NF
So don't try the old Fulford load!
The above ( stated it's faster) makes sense since they stongly discouraged use of the new formula in pistols when it first came out hmmm a decade ago?

Re: Nitro 100NF
somewhere around 2014 or 15 the NF showed up if memory serves.. the 100NF I have has been with me unopened for a while. AA does have some 45 loads on their site but they are the typical none BE type loads.. was just talking with a friend and we decided it might be good to test it..
Allen's load was over 5gr with the old stuff if I remember right and that would be over most of their current recommended loads with jacketed stuff..

Re: Nitro 100NF
I'm going to try some different crimps with both the 180s and 200gr 68 style bullets to see what it prefers.. powder seems to offer some promise as a viable substitute for our std powders. That particilar barrel did shoot very well with some hand cast 185 68 style bullets and BE.. a reminder that quality of the bullet does matter at the long line..
