Thought I’d share, just found this in a google search. Author test loads at 25y, but is practically methodological. Anyone heard of Brad Miller, author of these papers?

This looked familiar, so I searched and found the link to the original article;

He shoots a 38 super a lot better than a 45.  I wonder what that is about.

I'll make a few general observations regarding the data in the Shooting Times linked article.  The author used 4 brands/types of bullets, 3 kinds of primers and different loads of 8 powders.  While he did use a Ransom Rest, he used a 1911 he accurized himself, shot 55 groups of 15 shots each at 25 yds and threw out some shots he didn't like.  The data show a range of group sizes from about 1.4 to 3.3".

About all I can safely conclude from a cursory review of these data?

Shoot whatever jacketed load you like, and if you aren't cleaning the short line every time, you need to work on your technique!
