Colt Woodsman question

I have a Colt Woodsman Sport built in 1950 that belonged to my father. It’s in easily 98% condition but was told the two magazines are incorrect. This is a series 2 Woodsman and the mags have a slightly domed bottom panel. I was told those are series 3 mags. I find it hard to believe my dad would have changed the magazines. So, my question is two fold. First, should the series 2 built guns all have flat bottom mags? Or, could possibly later production series 2 guns have had the next generation mags in them when leaving Colt?
