It actually took the USPS 69 years to get that catalog to you?! That's pretty bad, even for them.

Just for fun here are the prices adjusted for inflation 1955 to 2024:  (2024 price in parentheses*)

Clark Accurized 45 $121.00 ($1,410)

Clark Super 38 Conversion to 38 Special $146.00  ($1,701)

Hercules Bullseye. 11 ounce tin $1.50 ($17.48)

Western 45 ACP 210 Lead SWC Match, 50 rounds $5.55 ($64.68)

>> looks like precision pistols have gone up more than inflation but not ammo

If I could transport back to 1955 I could afford to buy guns and the ammo to boot.   Cool

Jim Clark mentioned in some of his brochures and literature that the "cost" of a good quality target pistol was equal to about two weeks worth of wages.
Based on then and now, still seems about right.

When I started Bullseye with LTC Miller, I had a parttime job outside of my college classes making $1.50/hour.  I'm 8 years retired now
I remember one time holding in my hands at a store a High Standard 10X pistol.  It was priced something like $600.
Any way if someone is interested, first "I'll take it" can have Gil Hebard catalogs #'s 33, 22, 19, 18, and the 1959-1960 book.
All are in good shape except the oldest cover is no attached

I don't have a complete collection, but I lucked into a signed one. I really like the exploded views of the different target pistols.

I suspect and have experienced that a lot of the shooters who have long been in the sport underestimate how much the rest of us and how much we do these days treasure their stories and memorabilia.

Seriously, post your stories here and we will read them. And if you have old documents like these antique catalogs that aren't questionable for republication I'd be happy to scan and host them online for the rest of us. Sometimes like this we hear of treasure out of a barn and too often it quickly disappears into another barn vs. being shared.

Thanks
