Camp Perry
Has anyone given any thought to a bullseye forum get together at perry. Wouldn't need to be anything extravagant, just a means of getting together & putting faces to the names.
I'd be good with just meeting on the beach some evening & sharing a few adult beverages.

Re: Camp Perry
I can be found near the AMU trailer. Not sure if I can make Larry's Cook-out. I usually go where Adam is going. Often it's same place as most of the other AMU shooters.
I see the weather forecast has improved, when I first looked at the link above there was quite a bit of rain in the forecast now I see only Thursday has a 60% chance of rain. Not being able to see the target thru my Micro last year I made clear extensions for my Sightron and 9000SC.

Walked the range at 2 pm today. Bone dry. Even the grass is dry. We had a little rain last night. Weather was perfect today, except for the 20 knot winds. This is Perry, could change in a day.

I'll be there! Not hard to find, US Navy Marksmanship Team (USNMT) jersey like the other Navy Team shooters.

Learning curve at Perry
Make sure to clean gunk out of gun before it locks up in timed fire, shutting you down for the match.
hire someone to lug the 4 gun strong case back and forth, back and forth, and back and forth on preliminary day.
(Really like the smallest 3 gun case that's only available online.... Like the AMU lady shooter uses...)
purchased a small scope for case. Big scope available!
Bungie cords, clamp for case catcher.
Bring lounge chair, not a simple stool.
Taking pictures of all the carts at Perry. quite the innovators...
Bring more water. more water, more water and ice....
Shooting indoors there is no wind.....
Schedules are "estimates" only.
target lines break and require maintenance, did I mention lounge chair?
Pre-cut match scorecards. leave the rest in box so the RO doesn't have to announce to the world your scorecard packet blew away......
find a pen that writes on the waterproof scorecards.
Jolly Roger twice, found out I love perch....
Back tomorrow for more..

Wow the weather looks great! Sunny, dry, but windy. First picture shows the range flag standing straight out. Remember guys the pointy end of the bullet goes down range. lol

Remember two things about Camp Perry:
1) It never rains on the (High) Master relay
2) "You will receive time to adjust your equipment"

But they will take plenty of time to decide a range alibi, then more time to reverse their decision.Rotwang wrote:They don't promise "enough" time.john bickar wrote:Remember two things about Camp Perry:

Jim, my wife, who accompanied me to Perry 6 times in the 80's, says she can see the clouds of mosquitoes in your pix.

Re: Camp Perry
Don,
your wife and mine must be related. In the 14 or so years that I have been going to Perry during the rifle phase, I do not recall any mosquito bites. (actually, I think that it is highly related to the scenting and perfuming used by many people that attracts the skeeters)
The pictures look great. Something relaxing about a nice pistol/rifle range on mowed grass with blue skies.
