Anyone shoot Norma Tac-22 22lr. from a Nelson conversion?

I am considering buying a brick and I am looking for a little input. 

The reviews of the Ammo seem good and the price is right.

I just ordered another brick. It shoots better in my Nelson then CCI SV. That's the only other ammo I tested it against but function was great and I also liked the price.

Great ammo and a great price.  I am glad that the Nelson likes it because my Mark III doesn't feed it from the mag very well.  My Victory liked it and I still have 4 bricks so when my Nelson gets here I will use it in that.  Don

They shoot just fine out of my Nelson.

Nelsons are great. I like them better than Marvels. I tried a brick of match 22lr. Accuracy was excellent, however I had a couple of miss feeds and a light hit. It shot better with a drop of oil. 

I think the issues was the gun and not the ammo. I had recently been shooting Aguilla target and that stuff is filthy. It has been a while since I cleaned my backup and there was also some gunk on the slide so I will try it again to rule out the gun. 

Shot a 100 6x with it so the ammo is good and groupings were tight. If I buy a case I will probably buy a case of the Tac 22 save a couple of bucks and sort a couple of bricks by rim thickness to make match ammo that is optimized for my guns, both Nelsons. 

So on this trip, I would rate it worse than SK, Aquilla Super Extra and CCI SV for reliability. It's about the same as Aquilla Target in terms of reliability. Again I am reserving judgment because I think it was the gun. The chamber was pretty gummed up and the range was pretty cold. 

In terms of accuracy, I think it's perfectly acceptable and promising. I had 2 fliers but the shots were almost on call and again it could have been the gun or the temperature. 

I suspect it might be a little temperature sensitive. The Norma website says 1100 FPS but I think if felt lighter than CCI SV but not as light as Center X. 

My guns seem to like SK , Wolf, and Aguila Super Extra and I will test it again now that thoroughly cleaned my pistol. If Tacc 22 shoots as good as Center X and is $40 a brick cheaper then it can be a home run. Too early to tell.

These were shot at a air conditioned indoor range firing 10 shots  I have checked about 13 brands so far just no expensive stuff.  Don

Range report #2 

Shot 5 strings slow fire offhand from the same gun after cleaning and finding a couple things to address. 

There was a tiny drop of dried VC3 on the rails from installing a new Ultra Dot. I cleaned that up and I noticed the thumb safety was riding up on the grips not a lot but maybe 1000th. I had also changed the trigger system because I had trouble with another gun and the backup 22 had new C&S parts. Turns out both guns are happier with the new to them parts, go figure. I ordered a KC roll trigger for this 22lr so we will see if that is as good. 

Shot 50 rounds no FTF or FTE and I did not have to apply oil to the rounds; a  massive improvement over the last test, 10 FTE, 2 FTF. 

Now to shooting: 

1- 84 (I had just cleaned the gun and Zero as my groups were to the left. 
2- 88
3- 90
4- 90
5- 91

In all strings, I had one or two flyers. It was hard to determine if it was the ammo or the shooter in the last string I called a high 10 and it was a 7 (almost an 8 ) at 7 o'clock. 

I did not shoot timed and rapid because in my last test I shot a 100 6x. I will also note the temperature on the range was much colder than the first test, 40 degrees versus 50 degrees and I suspect the ammo is a bit temperature sensitive. 

So my final conclusion

Norma Target is about as good as CCI CV, the function is totally acceptable out of my Nelsons and is cleaner than most 22lr ammo. 

I would not spend extra money on the target ammo because it does not seem it would eliminate the flyers if the exist at normal temperatures. I will likely buy 2 boxes of Tac and sort them by rim thickness and make my own match ammo that will probably shoot as good as Center X for $50 less a brick.

PS I would also like to know how can trigger clockwork that produces a short roll in one Capsian Frame produces a very crisp glass breaking trigger in another 1911 all else being equal, I even swapped the trigger bows.

My Labradar data shows better ES and SD numbers for TAC 22 then Norma Match.  Not a lot of difference but still for the price Match should have been better.  Don

I have used the Norma in my nelson last few years.
I received one brick to test from midsouth when they first imported Norma. Works great in my marvel. Test at as good as any other than ten x
 They are the US importer. Sell to all the others.

I just bought a case from Midway, $447 plus $20 shipping before a $50 cash rebate. Have not used it before, but sounds like it's definitely worth a try
