I used to be a non-smoker

... then last week my friends and I were shooting air pistol with difficult lighting on our makeshift range. One friend suggested smoking our sights and I proposed burning masking tape. (I like that an item in my range bag can serve more than one purpose as I always have problems with toolboxes, luggage and range bags/boxes gaining weight)

The result was "Oh, that's why people smoke the sights and the manufacturers provide a matt surface for the soot." Much nicer sight picture.

I just remind myself I can quit any time. Sure. Not happening, I'm hooked.

As a safety reminder don't do this to red dot sights. Use Birchwood Casey Sight Black instead to avoid heat damage.

Much better than trying to vapor smoke them, I'm sure.
