Making a choice between 1911 9mm and .45
First topic message reminder :
I am positively settled on a 1911 platform after experimenting with a couple of alternatives. Now it's about 9mm or .45 I will shoot both for a while . Would like to hear opinions 1911 in 9mm or .45 .

Great input .
So really , what does a good 1911 9mm offers a BE shooter that a good 1911 .45 does not ? Or the other way around.

I build both pistols. The 45’s just flat out shoot everything great. The 9 you have to work at it. I love 6” longslide 9mm pistols but don’t care for 5” because they are more snappy. 9mm requires new brass for 50 yds. 45 shoots old brass fine. Hands down the 45 for me!

I noticed that. It seems that it's just easier to make a 45 to shoot well. I ( and my 1911's) really like Federal 185swc match for both 50 and 25 yards. But my custom SA 9mm Also shoots really well with Atlanta 115's and Federal 147 HST. I guess time will tell.Jon Eulette wrote:I build both pistols. The 45’s just flat out shoot everything great.
