Using Gehmann Iris 390
Someone please educate me about reasons for using something like Gehmann 390. How would it help ?

optimum alignment to the eye and perfect depth of field to the target is what the ad says. Most people use them to try and focus the front sight better.

How much field of view is recommended?

It will allow you to see both the front sight and the target in sharp focus. Not necessarily an advantage (IMHO). For me, it encouraged my focus to wander away from where it needed to be (front sight). I found the blurry target helpful in that regard. Only the front sight needs to be sharp.

I used one for 10 meter air pistol and saw a 20 percent i crease in scores.
