Zins grip users?
Does anyone use the Zins grip for the 1911? Any advantage?

The way he explained it to me is that his grip allows you to put your hand forward as if throwing a punch and have the sights aligned. That way, your grip will be natural and repeatable.
IMHO the 2nd sentence is the important part. The shooter needs to find the grip that naturally, without forcing it, allows sight alignment.

And doesn't allow the gun to shift in your hand. By gripping the pistol correctly the gun will not shift in your hand, even with a smooth front strap and mainspring housing.

Yes and yes.
There's a funny quote, I can't remember if I got it directly from Brian or through hearsay, that's basically, "I don't know why y'all call it the 'Zins grip'; I didn't invent it and it was around long before I started shooting."
And I always think, "If I won Perry 12 times, y'all better name something after me, even if it's the port-a-john by the target trailer on Range 3"

To get back on the track.
Zin's Grip improves consistency dramatically. But just parroting what he does might not work for you. The point is that for some people following that procedure allows them to operate the trigger without the sights moving (really without them leaving the aiming area of their wobble). That makes both slow fire and sustained fire easier with the 45. Of course, part of the trick is to have pressure on the trigger before you reach your aiming area and that can be more difficult to develop.
I have recently realized that I am not gripping my 22 conversion in the same way I grip the 45 (or more honestly, with the same grip pressure). It hasn't meant a lot in timed fire, because well time. But in Rapid I was shooting the 45 as well as the 22 which is not good because I was seldom cleaning either. An increase in grip pressure brought the 22 back up to where I think that it should be and the 45 improved a bit as well.

Re: Zins grip users?
Thanks to everyone for their responses. I've been using that grip now for the past month or so, and have found that it gives me a much better control of the pistol, as the back strap sits directly in the crease of my hand between the finger and thumb muscles. It also seems to align the sights directly upon presenting the pistol to the Target, without my having to shift the sights left or right. As for consistency, I will have to see but it certainly is no different than the consistency with the standard grip and perhaps better.
