45-185 lead with WST
Anyone loading WST ?
Are you Master or better?
I suspect the minimum bullet weight for a good WST load is 185
Bullseye seems to be the choice light bullets
Thanks

Re: 45-185 lead with WST
A buddy loaned me some loaded with 4.5 WST and they shot excellent. He dropped down to 4.1 and they were still shooting good at 50 yds. Next time I load I’m going with 4.1

I also load WST under 185 grain SWC. What I find is the Magnus #801 takes much less powder than a H&G 68 profile. With a Magnus #801 I start at about 3.9 grains, for the H&G 68 I start over 4 grains.

I use 4.2 WST with the 185 Zero but also lube the bullets with alox. No leading and great accuracy.

I use WST.
I shoot Dardas 160s & Zero 185's and 200s . All with the same charge of 4.1. 50yd accuracy is the same and function is the same. Crimp is .464 for the 160s & 185s
I actually prefer Dardas 160s for recoil impulse over the other but they have shut down. I hear Bobs Bullets is just as good. I will try some when my Dardas run out.

In my guns 4.0- 4.2 WST works well with 185gr .45acp lead. If jacketed 185s then my guns like 4.4 - 4.6 WST. FYI, WST works well in .38 Super and .38 Spl too.

Yep 4.1-4.2 with 185 or 200 gr. Good stuff.
I never tried working up a load with lighter bullets. Maybe one day. 4.4gr N310 is my load for 160gr, LSWC, which, I think, is only slightly less accurate than the above load. I usually shoot WST 185 HPSWC at the long line and N310 160's at the short line. If I had more time I would work up loads for a common powder, but it's good enough for now. I mostly shoot jacketed loads in my primary gun and lead in my backup gun.
