How do you feel about mobile browsing the forum?
Hey folks, we have upgraded the forum to use a mobile app called Topic’it for browsing on a small screen, such as a mobile phone.
Is this type of feature useful to you?
Do we have a bunch of folks viewing/using the forum on their phone?
If so, are you willing to use a 3rd party app for this site?
Personally, I have almost never used my phone for this site. I do use an iPad, but prefer the regular “Desktop” view. I also use a desktop computer too with the “Desktop” view. I have no use for another app when I use Safari or Firefox. That is just me though.
How do you access this site? There are no right or wrong answers. We are just looking for opinions.
I wonder if anyone on the Internet has opinions....

I use my iPhone but in "desktop" view. Like you, no need for an app.

99% desktop PC. 1% laptop
(My phone is a phone and sometimes a texter. Rarely a camera, and I have yet to figure out how to file pictures off the phone. Most of the time the phone is a nuisance)

I use my phone 75% of the time and always desktop view. I typically really dislike mobile versions of forums.

Ambivalent. This Luddite has no cell phone and probably never will.

75% phone use - always in forum view, easier to navigate and find things for me.

100% Firefox on a desktop computer. I do have apps on my phone and use them but have never felt the need to access this forum using my phone. But thank you for thinking of ways of trying to make the forum more accessible.

I like to keep the browsing the same so when on my phone I use desktop (web) view. Holding the phone in landscape makes it easier to read/use too.

Not long ago my phone went through a fit with this website and kept bringing it up in an app like setting. I much prefer the desktop view. The app version drove me and my wee little feeble mind nuts! Currently my phone is back to normal and I’d like to keep it that way I can.

Desktop view only. App view isn't user friendly, IMO.

I was having this same problem. I could not get it to stop either, but it corrected itself. I could not control the behavior from my Admin controls. I think the hosting service was trying to shove the mobile view in people’s face to get them to see how “wonderful” it was.
The app situation is a bit different. This a shiny new feature that they charge an extra premium for. Rob paid into just so we could try it out for a bit.
It looks like there is little to no interest in continuing with the 3rd party app. I kinda figured as much, but I did not want to assume anything.
You can always access the mobile view if you really want it anytime by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on it. I can’t see why you would need a mobile app as a well, when this does the same thing. It is just another company harvesting your info.
I am still open to comments, no rush on this, as it is paid for already for a bit.

When using my phone, I use desktop view. The way the mobile view is set up, it doesn't allow enough width to be able to read the thread subjects.

Re: How do you feel about mobile browsing the forum?
At home, I almost always use an iMac desktop. If I'm traveling, a MacBook Pro laptop. This assumes I have WiFi available. If I need to get info from the forum, I've used many mobile devices, but nowadays I use an iPhone with "Safari Browser". I'm looking at this discussion with the phone right now, as I'm typing this. It's easy to use, but I enjoy having a full screen.
So, would I use it? My answer, I'm already using it, no app needed, at least for a fairly recent iPhone.

Re: How do you feel about mobile browsing the forum?
I just tried setting up the Topic'it app on my phone. The app is garbage. I couldn't even configure my account before it crashed. No need to bother with it.
