From his website: http://www.marvelcustomguns.com/
Marvel Custom Guns will be permanently closing December 31. No orders will be accepted after December 20th. Any orders received after December 20th will be returned.
I would like to thank my loyal patrons for the years of support.

I think Frerking services Bob Marvels 22 conversion or makes parts for them.

FCW bought Marvel Precision, they sold the Bob Marvel designed 22 Conversions.
Bob is teaching custom 1911 build classes see info on the Nelson Custom Guns website HERE: Bob's 1911 class info
Marvel Custom Guns is Al Marvel or should I say Al Marvel IS Marvel Custom Guns. http://www.marvelcustomguns.com/about_us.htm

Re: Marvel Custom Guns closing
Probably good this Marvel is closing/retiring.
I sent an e-mail through their site a couple weeks ago asking for an inventory check and a total.
I waited a week, called the number on the site, no answer, no machine.
I waited a day or two and called back, this time a gentleman answered. I asked about the products I was interested in... he said send an e-mail through the site, I said I did. He said I don't remember it, send another one.
That night I sent another duplicate e-mail........still crickets !

I feel that Bob Marvel was more of an innovator than businessman and that he contributed a lot to the mechanical knowledge base of this sport.
Hopefully it continues in some form.

Re: Marvel Custom Guns closing
Ok, guys, there is:
Bob Marvel- reknown gunsmith and developer of a .22 conversion, currently teaches 1911 build classes. I had him for a teacher, helluva guy, that has forgotten more than most will ever know about a 1911.
Marvel Precision- A business that produces the .22 conversion, not owned by Bob Marvel (long story involving lawsuits), it was sold and is currently owned by Travis Frerking
Al Marvel- gunsmith and owner of Marvel Custom Guns, the fella that this thread refers to.

Re: Marvel Custom Guns closing
I mailed a check this past Monday for two scope mounts, and I received them in the mail yesterday. I’m glad I was able to get the order fulfilled. I was not expecting such a quick turnaround. I don’t think the check has even cleared yet.
