ICK HORTON MATCH GRIPS - NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS
Hi Dick Horton,
Not sure if you are still making target grips still, but i saw this thread.
Hopefully you are still in business.
I'm in need of LEFT-HANDed Target grip for my HIGH STANDARD VICTOR pistol.

Hey Dick,
I've always admired these pictures of your grips.
Have you ever made a grip to mimic the 1911 for a Pardini SP22? Not just the upright angle, but a realistic frame with slabs. I'd be interested. 1911A1, flat mainspring housing, Herret slabs, beavertail and speed bump grip safety.
Edit: I found Andrew @ PTPG offers a 3d printed version and I'm going to start with this, but if it works well for me I would be interested in a pretty one in real wood

I recently had a set made for my smith 41 and I am not impressed!Sent them back 3 times and they still do not work .If i tighten the grip screws the magazine gets stuck. If I loosen it up the grips enough for the mag to fall out the grips move around while shooting.Last conversation with Dick he assured me he had them on his 41 and everything works good.Im done sending them back I will write off the 300bucks.

I had to file down the grip screws for one of my Rinks to fit on my Pardini GT45 for them not to scrape the mags. Are you sure the screws aren't just too long? This is the first negative feedback I've heard on DHMGsSnappyobx wrote:I recently had a set made for my smith 41 and I am not impressed!Sent them back 3 times and they still do not work .If i tighten the grip screws the magazine gets stuck. If I loosen it up the grips enough for the mag to fall out the grips move around while shooting.Last conversation with Dick he assured me he had them on his 41 and everything works good.Im done sending them back I will write off the 300bucks.

Re: DICK HORTON MATCH GRIPS - NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS
Perhaps the problem lies with a difference in your 41s. Mr. Horton has an older M41 while you have a newer M41 more than likely a PC. I had the same issue and found that the removal of a bit of material from inside the grips solved the magazine binding problem.Snappyobx wrote:I recently had a set made for my smith 41 and I am not impressed!Sent them back 3 times and they still do not work .If i tighten the grip screws the magazine gets stuck. If I loosen it up the grips enough for the mag to fall out the grips move around while shooting.Last conversation with Dick he assured me he had them on his 41 and everything works good.Im done sending them back I will write off the 300bucks.
The attached photo shows the sand marks on one side of the grip. You need to do both sides of course.

HORTON COMPETITION GRIPS
Hey Guys:
Sorry if I've offended anyone. Just to be clear, I am a retired hobbyist that really enjoys making works of art that happen to be pistol grips for Bullseye. I post the photos of my work to this Forum to showcase my designs and enjoy the comments I receive. This is not intended as a sales pitch or a means to make a bunch of money. There is barely enough money to cover the cost of building them considering the price of fancy figured hardwoods. A website would indicate I am soliciting more business, which I would likely not be able to keep up with the demand. If I get enough negative comments, I will stop posting them. But thank you to the folks that I hear from who do enjoy.

You are free to keep posting. The products and the market for them is very small. And the comments to this thread are uncommon enough that the topic doesn't detract from the forum in any way.
Thank you for providing a product to our tiny market segment.

I have three sets of Dick's grips and they are great. I did need to slightly modify one set, but that was no big deal. I have them on a RO1911,45ACP, S&W 41, 7 inch, and Sig P210. They are consistent in the feel and make for a comfortable BE match.

I am also a fan. I have grips for my 1911, Model 52, Model 41 and Pardini SP. No mods on the 1911, 3 minutes of sanding on the 52, 5 minutes of filing around the mag release hole on the 41 and about 30 minutes of filing and fitting to accommodate an enlarged thumb base joint from a rather bad fracture a few years ago. The problem showed up on my Pardini due to the grip's unique shape. All-in-all, pretty darned impressive. I love the grips and am a better shot because of them.
