Not that it should happen to anyone, but Jon is such a nice guy.

I met John at Canton and Perry in 2017. Terrific sportsman, and approachable guy. Too much bad stuff has happened recently to people in this sport. I am sorry to hear this added to the list.
Best wishes, John

That really sucks. I was just over at Deep River picking up a 1911 frame that he did some impeccable work on. Must have talked to him for a couple of hours. One of the nicest guys I have ever met.

So sorry this happened to Jon, yet thankful that there was only the loss of property and not life. Guns can be replaced, National Champions are a lot harder to come by.
Folks, please take the time to make a list of all your firearms and serial numbers.
This is the kind of thing that will “never happen to you”, until it does.

record every serial number, details on the firearm, and any accessories that go with it as well as a current value (update regularly)

google shows he is in NC between Charlotte and Raliegh,
he has probably already done this, but may want to reach out the gunshow promoters in the area, and get the list to the dealers that set up,
specialized batch of firearms, not something a runner would want, but you never know
