Custom gun sears

Tore apart my heavy optic 1911 to clean up some gunk. While in the innards I was surprised to find some unusual parts. This is the sear. I've never seen one ground like this. It seems it would either wear or break easily. 
I assume this is a MIM part also which I didn't expect to see.

So, what's the congregations opinion on this sear?

( I've already replaced it with a more traditional one if wondering)
