Hammerli p240 .38 Special WC red dot sight
Does anyone have any experience or recommendation for a red dot sight for a Hammerli P240 .38 Special WC?
I have the Ultradot Matchdot II mounted on both my .22 Hammerli 208 and the .45 Springfield RO wad gun. Excellent sights with no issues whatsoever. Since the sight will be mounted on the slide on the P240, I’m afraid that it might be too heavy to cycle the slide.
I like the tube scopes rather than the reflex sights due to easier dot acquisition outdoors in daylight.
Your suggestions will be appreciated.

I would personally drill and tap the barrel for a Weaver base and mount the scope to the barrel. The slide tolerance will give up some accuracy. I have experience with the 22 & 32 P240. They are both barrel mounted optics.

Hi Jon,
Can you please elaborate on mounting the rail to the barrel?
What optic would you use?

I don't think you're going to get a mount on the barrel of a .38 P240.
I guess you could. Getting the gun to function would be problematic, however.

Merry Oops my goof. The 22 & 32 have partial slides with a shroud. The 38 is a full slide (just learned this). Aimpoint Micro should work on a small rail made to mount on the rear of the slide. Mount could probably be made with all mounting screws hidden under the removed iron sights. I was up until 5 am this morning machining mounts like this for a couple different pistols; my specialty;)
Longslide 1911 38 specials run fine like this, so I would think the 240 could run as well.
Thanks John for the comment.
