Gun ? adding weight Empty Gun ? adding weight

I have a Ruger 678 in the tapered target model ..that I use with open sights. Ive been thinking of adding some weight to the barrel to inhance the balance and such. What is the weight of standard weights that I see hanging off of high standards and such...I can make up the weight myself but would have a smith drill and tap my barrel for mounting.

I would try to make a system where you can add on weight in increments. When I was shooting High Standards, I tried weights. I ended up removing them. If I would have had a chance to leave a smaller weight, I might have done that. It also makes a big difference where the weights are located. If possible try to design a system that slides fore and aft.

Some auto parts store sell stick on wheel weights. Not very pretty but will let you experiment without drilling and tapping.

When I was a little shooter I used fish weights and electric tape on my BB pistol to add weight. Smile

I was thinking that one might be able to use industrial velcro to attach weights. With a long strip running the full length under the barrel, one could attach them at any position.

I was kinda lookin for have much weight to add ? .....What weights can with the HS's ? are the 1oz , 1/2oz ? I dont think I need much weight but my 678 without a dot is pretty light compsre to everything else I shoot......I will have to play around ..the velcro is a great idea....once I get the weight and position I like I can go from there with a more permenant attachment...
