New CCI polymer coated .22LR ammo
I have learned that CCI now offers both a HV and SV polymer coated 40 gr .22LR bullet. I think the HVs are red, and the SVs are blue. I think they also made a bulk pack of red, white & blue polymer coated bullets.
Does anyone have any known accuracy data of the polymer coated SV ammo compared to the standard CCI SV ammo?
Thanks!
Martin

There are a lot of threads on them over at Rimfirecentral.com in the .22lr forum.

Roger that. I have scanned some of those, but failed to find anything "worthwhile" relative to BE accuracy requirements.

I hear they are getting better than 1” groups at 7 yds.

I am sure that they are very close to the sv in accuracy. I have been using coated bullets in other calibers with no difference in accuracy. I cannot see these being any different. I just bought a few to test myself. I expect good things.

Where is it available? The mgr. of the local range checked all of his distributors, and no-one has it. Not always so easy to get ammo shipped to California, although I could find them, I'd get some and test them in my RR.

Re: New CCI polymer coated .22LR ammo
Greetings,
Looked this stuff up. Interesting; but, not amusing...
https://www.cci-ammunition.com/whatsnew/newproducts.aspx
Some "Key Features"
• Polymer bullet coating greatly reduces lead fouling in the barrel without leaving residue
• Cuts lead buildup in suppressors 60 to 80 percent
• 40-grain lead round nose bullets—red for High Velocity, blue for Sub-Sonic
• Optimized bullet geometry for improved accuracy
• Reliable function in semi-automatic firearms
• Great option both casual and competitive shooters
For our use, high velocity is a good way to beat up your $2000.00 match pistol.
The Sub-Sonic will probably not function the action. True, I have not tested this.
The "Can" shooters will benefit. The "can" is attached to the muzzle, not the target can.
As soon as I am gifted some, I will run it through the barrel tester.
Cheers,
Dave

What a wonderful opportunity to pay more to prove a "solution" in search of a problem.
When I start lamenting how bad my match suppressor is clogging I will know exactly what to buy.

My gun suppressor doesn't seem to be clogging up yet. She is still sitting over there frowning when I mention new guns or ammo. That got a grin though.
