.32 Fiocchi factory for long line

Hello everyone, 

Since I do not yet have a good long line load, I used Fiocchi factory for long line in last weeks 2700.  Long line scores were not very good.  

Attached is a photo of one target.  To me it looks like the bullets are beginning to turn when entering the target, because of the grease mark outside of the roundish hole.  Can someone with more .32 experience lend some guidance.  I have no choice for long line just now.  When spring comes and I can get outside more and do some good testing with reloads.  

This was fired from a Benellli mp95E with stock barrel.

Most commercial 32 WadCutter does not shoot well at 50 yards in 0.314" barrels, which I strongly suspect your Benelli is.

Even in 0.311" barrels the Fiocchi is 'hit and miss'. Some lots shoot very well, others poorly.

If you do any reloading, contact Zane Mosely for some "bumped" Speer Plinkers.

Load them with either 1.70 grains of Bullseye and you should get groups inside the ten ring at 50 yards.

My favorite recipe?

Fired Lapua cases sized to 0.334".
Small Pistol Primer
1.70 grains Bullseye
Flare case mouth only, no expander.
Seat bullet flush to case mouth.
Taper crimp to 0.325".

Thanks Dave.  I will make up your loading, only substitution I have to make is older Fiocchi brass as I have little lapua.  

Did you make a custom sizer for .334 or is it an over sized Lee.

Dave shot that in my Benelli barrel. I couldn’t get the gun to shoot worth anything, Dave agreed to test it for me.  Dave also gave me similar advice. It was a real eye opener. 

I believe Dave uses a Star, since I use a Dillon 550,  I use a Lee +2 sizing die.

I have loaded Fiocchi brass nor have I gauged it with a pin to see where the taper starts.

My Lapua cases measure 0.010" wall thickness.

So, 0.314" bullet + (2 x 0.010") wall thickness = 0.334" loaded diameter.

If your Fiocchi brass measures 0.011" wall thickness you may need a 0.336" die.

Lee will machine custom sizing dies. Just mail them five fired cases with instructions as to the finish case sizing.

I am spoiled. I have a box of sizing dies to accommodate the various bullet diameters and wall thicknesses I encounter with both the 32 WadCutter and 32 ACP.

Accuracy at 50 yards is quite doable. However, it does involve a bit more effort.
