Fiocchi 32ACP Factory Ammo (32APHP)
Today I shot the Fiocchi 32ACP Shooting Dynamics (32APHP) ammo in my Pardini HP Bullseye 5 inch. This is not the Extrema line with the advertised Hornady XTP bullets. I called Fiocchi to check what bullet is used and they stated that it is the Hornady XTP bullet in the Shooting Dynamics 32ACP ammo, but just not stated on the box. I pulled one of the bullets and it is by all appearances a Hornady XTP 60 grain bullet.
I shot it at 33 yards (range maintenance moved the 25 and 50 yard benches to 33 yards) and was stunned by the performance in my pistol. Below was the best five group, but no group I shot left the 10 ring at 33 yards. Velocities ran from 1072 to 1184. I just sandbagged my pistol on the bench and used my red dot for aiming. I did have to reseat all the bullets to .940 so they would fit in my HP magazines.
I thought the 32 ACP group would find this interesting....

Re: Fiocchi 32ACP Factory Ammo (32APHP)
Greetings,
"I did have to reseat all the bullets to .940" ???
What was the overall length prior to seating to 0.940"?
Velocities/pressures increase quickly when seating the bullet deeper.
The Hornady 60XTP factory I have chronographed averages 900-1050 FPS, varies with the lot number.
Cheers,
Dave

I've seen the same thing with this Fiochi load including the need to reseat. Accurate but pretty hot.

Dave,
They measured .947 to .945..... Just too long for my magazines.

I reseated mine to the length of factory Hornady rounds, but I didn't record what that was. They chronographed 1177 fps, which is very consistent with what tray999 got.
Based on accuracy, they would be a much cheaper alternative to the Hornady factory stuff if they weren't too long and potentially too hot wear-and-tear wise. I saw no excess pressure signs.

Dr. Don,
The Hornady XPT factory loads all measured .905 to .907 which is why I had no issues in any of my HP magazines with the Hornady ammo. I was getting an average velocity very close to yours at 1140. Based on that, I thought the Fiocchi ammo velocity was within the safe range. I agree it is on the hot side. I also have no high pressure signs with any of the reseated Fiocchi ammo.

Re: Fiocchi 32ACP Factory Ammo (32APHP)
Tray999,
I just measured some of the Fiochi I reseated and I gave them an OAL of .895. They chrono'd at 1177, which is right where yours were at an OAL of .940. My factory Hornady 60XTP ammo chrono'd at 941 fps. So the Fiochi as reseated was quite a bit faster than the factory Hornady. I only shot one Ransom Rest group with the Fiochi and it went 2.72" for 10 shots at 50 yds. That was over an inch better than factory Hornady shot the same day in the same setup. Neither are as good as my 60XTP reloads, which give 1.6-1.8" at 50 yds.

WOW, I must have had a hot box of Hornady.....
I have just started to load 32 ACP with the Hornady XTP. I am going to try 1.9, 2.0, and 2.1 grains of bulleye in a ladder test. I will be using my single stage press until the new Dillon powder funnel is ready..... I will let you know how it goes.
