Pardini 32 WadCutter Barrel Test
Greetings,
I had the pleasure of testing one of the new Pardini 6" 32 WadCutter barrels in a mechanical test fixture.
This barrel has a 0.314" groove diameter and has choke applied to the muzzle measuring about 0.312"
The targets were at 50 yards.
I used 0.314" 100 grain H&N, 0.314" 100 grain home swaged, and 0.314" 98 grain Speer Plinkers 'bumped' in my swaging die.
With some load development, the groups may improve. I was disappointed with the 0.314" H&N bullets.
The home swaged bullets had a roll crimp. This was a test as I normally use a taper crimp.
Cheers,
Dave

Dave. how would you compare this barrel to the “old” 5” barrel, accuracy wise?
Is the choke something new? What is the purpose?

Interesting. Good groups, yet still some tumbling/yawing.
I worked hard on the.32 for a number of years and never was able to get the scores out of it that I thought I should be shooting. Finicky little bastards.

Re: Pardini 32 WadCutter Barrel Test
It's been many years since I've spent time browsing this great group. Still as awesome as ever.
Anyway, many years back there was a gentleman who did barrel replacements on the Pardini in 32 S&W. The replacement barrel had a faster twist and did fairly well on the 50 yd. line. Is he still around and doing replacements? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Clint

Dave,
Those groups look good. Far better that what I ever saw with the 5" barrel. What do you attribute the improvement to? Length?

Re: Pardini 32 WadCutter Barrel Test
Greetings jmdavis,
The good groups are attributed to GOOD BULLETS.
I used H&N 0.314 100 grain, no longer available.
Also, some home swaged 0.314" HBWC.
And lastly, the Speer Plinkers bumped up to 0.314" diameter.
I have similar results with the 5" Pardini barrels as well.
Cheers,
Dave

Jmdavis,
Not to hijack but want to mention I sell some "bumped" Plinkers from time to time using my custom swaging dies. My FS thread has some test targets from Dave:

I thought that the 5" photos showed more flyers.
