Post by James Hensler Fri May 17, 2019 10:22 am

Yes I know and have read the 25 pages on target talk.

My question is what is the target goal for feet per second that I should try to achieve?
I have a Pardini in 32 ACP as well as a Hammerli 280 in S&W long

How the same question for the S&W long As well would be nice

For 32acp with Hornady XTP 60gr JHP bullets, 880fps is the goal.

I ordered some N310 but for now I am using Titegroup and I really like it. One guy swears that OAL of .894 and 2.3gr the xtp’s are right there. On my chrono it’s 940

32 ACP Question Empty I'm attaching my 32 ACP data

These data are from my testing and from posted info; as per usual, use standard reloading caution when working up new loads. Cheers, dipnet

Thank you!
I have a 6 inch gun so I think that’s why my Bullets are a little faster with the same load

32 ACP Question Empty Re: 32 ACP Question

Dear Dipnet,

Thanks for the 32ACP tables - an excellent reference for me. I've just got a new Pardini HP in 32ACP and am waiting for Starline Brass to arrive. I've already bought an initial stock of Hornady 60gr XTP bullets (I prefer to handle JHP's rather than lead bullets during reloading - and am hoping that I will, in due course, be able to get a mini-bullet feeder working with them on my XL650). If possible I'd like to use VV N310 powder as I find that it meters very nicely and I have a big jug in stock. I've bought some Federal SPP's, I also have CCI magnum SPP's in stock.

But I'm a little disappointed to see on your second table (which I guess are the loads that you have actually tested?) that the XTP groups at 50yds were mostly in the 4' range? Whereas some of the (by others?) loads with XTP on Table 1 are reporting ~2" groups.

I know that every gun is likely to shoot just a little bit different to others, but, unfortunately, I don't have easy access to a 50yd range for extensive testing.

My current plan is to start with 1.80gr N310, 60gr XTP, 0.090" OAL, 0.330" crimp (or as close as I can get - I'm not expert at this).

Sorry.

0.900" OAL - this is very close to your Load 194A.

32 ACP Question Empty Re: 32 ACP Question

I don’t know if your plan on doing everything with your 650 is going to yield the results you are hoping for! I have one I also have a SDB and a Lee Classic
I use the lee and for the long line I use a RCBS trickle charger!
I am retired and shoot 4 days a week in preparation for the Ohio Regional and then the Nationals and here is what I have found out so and I am still learning about these 32’s

My guns
Pardini HP 6 Inch Bullseye Edition in 32 ACP
Hammerlli 280 in 32 S&W long

I thought I was going to use the 280 because I love the holes that the wadcutter makes and I Routinely shoot 90-92 with my load!
Well that all changed recently because my last 3 strings with the Pardini was 94,95,and 95! I am only an expert and this is amazing to me!
The load
60 Grain XTP
Starline brass
Federal primers ( I like them because they are softer and never a misfire unlike others I have tried)
1.8 grains of N310
Speed at the muzzle is 935 Avg 10 shot groups
From my rest which is not as good as a Randsom is every round I shoot inside the 10 ring! That’s the best I can get!
My OAL is .895 and My crimp is very light! My rounds fall right out of my check guage without tapping.
I think you should just do this and practice because I don’t think any more Accuracy can be obtained!

32 ACP Question Empty Re: 32 ACP Question

I’ve got two 32 ACPs (Pardini and SP20) and 1/2 dozen different wadcutters.

With the proper components and technique I’m not convinced the ACP is any more accurate at 50 than the WC. Just as some guns shoot better than others, some reloads are better than others. Personally I think the gun is the lessor important. I believe all of my guns will group in the X ring with the right cartridge.

The ACP does have an advantage, however, of better availability of good bullets, at least in the US.
