i am looking for a small pair of binocs for checking my groups on my paper targets up to 50yds, 25yds 85% of the time, any suggestions on something reasonable

How about a spotting scope? You're gonna have a tough time seeing holes at 50 with small binos by hand. 25 will work though.

When just starting out in bullseye I used binos to spot my shots.  Worked with .45 at 50.  9mm, too.

I know you asked for small binos but I recommend the normal sized Leupold ones for ease of use.  Really I can't recommend AGAINST any particular company.  Which were you looking at specifically?

If you insist, nothing under 20x will make you happy finding .22 at 50 yds.
