Off days at Perry
seems like I’ll have a day between matches and was wondering is there a range at Perry where one can practice? I thought I saw it on the Cmp page but can’t recall where. Thought it was 25 yards.

Re: Off days at Perry
The airgun range is open pretty much every day, sometimes into the night. They have rental pistols and rifles available (the AR-15 air rifle is fun to try).
There is a Practice / Function range, but it won't be open on Monday and I don't think it is open on Saturday or Sunday during the CMP matches.
Here's how it has been set up in the past. One of the ranges is not used for Matches. but split into 2 ranges.
The low (left or West) end is the function range. Only the first 10 or so positions are used, so there is plenty of separation between you and the practice range. You have to have a ticket from one of the gunsmiths, CMP, AMU, Marines, National Guard, Rock River, Frerking, KC or any of the others on vendors row. Some will be generous and give you a chit if you ask, some won't unless they work on your gun. It is only 25 yards and you are only allowed to blast away a magazine or two to make sure the gun is functioning. You aren't even supposed to aim.
The high (right or East) end is for practice. $5 gets you a NMC, usually with an extra TF and RF target. There is no scoring, no alibis. They follow all the normal commands. You get the full 10 minutes SF. You can shoot more or fewer than the prescribed number of shots and you can change guns if you want. Don't expect a lot of practice. They will start when the matches start. They run slow. Really slow. They won't start a new NMC after about 10:45 or so. Generally they will shoot 7:30 (or when firing starts) to 11 and 1 to 2:30 in the afternoon.

Not to worry. Bring her once. She'll never want to go again.
