Question to 9mm 1911 BE shooters.
I got a couple of nice ( Wilson , LB, ETC) full size 1911's 9mm with target sights that I like to try to use in competition and for fun .
Normally I use .45 ACP for BE style shooting , but would like to give 9mm a serious try.
Would like to hear from others who use / used 1911 in 9mm for BE about their experiences . ( ammo , sight adjustment 25 -50 , etc)

Re: Question to 9mm 1911 BE shooters.
I don’t know if it’s because my sub six hold is really low or what at 50 .. I haven’t figured it out.. but I come up (yes up) two clicks from 50 yards to 25 yards. Sounds off to me but that’s what it is.
I’m used to shooting 45 for service pistol but I’m currently shoooting 9mm 1911 now. Like a laser it really is. But 9mm is less forgiving to a mistake. If it breaks and you think “aw that’s a wide ten” it’s orobably a wide nine instead or worse. But good shots made are very good shots. And I like the recoil impulse more too. 45 pushes you further back and might be a little slower but 9mm is fast and snappy and return/recovery is faster in my opinion. Since I’ve been using it for service pistol I’ve really liked the idea of have a dedicated center fire gun in 9mm put together but I’m not sure yet if that’s going to happen. I need to iron out my shooting issues with the 45 I think for now.
If you’re a Reloader I dont have any info for ammunition. I never reloaded for 9mm in the past and I’m shooting factory Ammo for that service pistol right now.
I really like it. I think - unless you are the type of guy that really prefers 45 all the way - you’d like working with the 9mm. Anyone would or at the very least find it interesting. Like I said unless you’re all about 45 and just prefer the feel of it better. 9mm in a 1911 platform has been a lot of fun for me to try out and use recently.

Re: Question to 9mm 1911 BE shooters.
Been shooting a 9mm most of the summer. I tried some different ammo, all hand loads. MY gun shoots Missouri 125 SWC with 3.5 BE quiet well. My go to load has been 115 HAP with 4 grains titegroup. This is about 1050 fps. Shoots under an inch @ 25. The SWC cut a better hole.
Recoil is not much. I have not been adjusting my sights from 50 to 25. Its just a little high, still in the X ring @ 25 if I do my part. Look at ballistic tables, the 9mm drops much less from 25 to 50. BC of the 115 HAP is .139. It think for a 45 SWC its like .08 depending on bullet style. Still using the stock 10 lb spring. Lately I have an SRO mounted on the slide.
Going back to my 45 next week. I had the slide milled for a dot sight. The 9mm goes out next for the same thing.

Which direction and distance do you adjust sights on your .45?Tim:H11 wrote:I don’t know if it’s because my sub six hold is really low or what at 50 .. I haven’t figured it out.. but I come up (yes up) two clicks from 50 yards to 25 yards. Sounds off to me but that’s what it is.

The opposite. I come down six clicks from 50 yards to 25 yards for my 45. My 9mm I come up two clicks when I go from 50 yards to 25 yards. Not sure why.

Yeah, that's odd. It might be your hold. I wish I'd held onto my 9mm 1911 longer and I could tell you if I experience the same thing. I wouldn't change it though, given the scores you are clearing. What bullet weight and velocity?
All 6 of my bullseye pistols ranging in caliber from .22 to .45 require 3-5 clicks up when going from 50 to 25. But that is going from center hold to center hold. Most days I simply change my hold to tight-six at 25 and use the extra few seconds adjusting my scope or dry firing. Helps to keep me from forgetting to put my 50 yard dope back on, too.
