Web Coverage at Camp Perry 2019?
Is there a web page that is tracking the goings on at Perry, what happened each day, how people are doing, maybe some photos?
Even better, some video coverage - but that's too much to hope for I guess.

Hey Mike! Just an observer....
Shot DR and Harry Reeves match today. I was on relay 2. Things progressed slowly, no real hurry. As a first time Perry goer, it was pretty easy to figure out where I needed to be. Weather was great. Blue skys, upper 70's, light wind. A lot of people complained about the wind, but I guess Cardinal has gotten me used to it. I didn't really notice it. I'm a marksman (though not yet classified), and shot a 246 for DR, which I'm happy with. Started off with a 85 slow, but I'm just not used to shooting a revolver in sustained. Lost some points for sure.
At any rate, a couple pics:

Pretty funny they've put cover over the next relay but not over the shooters. I guess they figured that would mess with the ambiance.

Hey, thanks! So all the zillions of people who couldn't make it get to see the event through your eyes. The more photos, the better.Dcforman wrote:Hey Mike! Just an observer....

Beautiful weather!! Kodak perfect!
So people who are shooting are "out in the open", and the shooters in the next "relay" have a comfortable covered position for while they're waiting? How many relays are there? The second photo shows how big this event is. I'm surprised I don't see a lot more carts. I knew it was big, but it's much more so than I imagined.
From what Dave wrote, is it correct that the entire day today, July 8, was for Revolver Competition? 'zanemoseley', are you there? (If I ever post your name incorrectly, it's because my Mac thinks it has a better way to spell it.....)
Time for me to SEND this, and then check to the results.

Seems normal for Perry, you never know how long you'll be staged for and last thing they need is a heat case before getting to the line.

Hmm, looked at the link for Revolver results.... I just realized I "know" so many people from the forum only by their user name, and have no idea what their "real" name is, as listed on the results.
'adminbot1911', how hot is it there?

I'm not there yet this week, but as I recall the breeze off the lake was welcome, as is the AC in the huts.mikemyers wrote:Hmm, looked at the link for Revolver results.... Re: Web Coverage at Camp Perry 2019?
It didn't get much above 80 yesterday, pretty comfortable in the shade, a little warm in the sun, but the breeze was nice. There were 2 relays for Harry Reeves and DR. First relay started at 1:00, and we finished up around 4:20. I can't be sure, but it appeared they were firing on three ranges yesterday, so with two relays, they must've had over 300 shooters.

Re: Web Coverage at Camp Perry 2019?
Sorry. Didn't take any today. They discourage phone use in front of the ready line. Weather felt hot today. Some breeze, but pretty much at our backs, so didn't affect shooting too much. Some big scores today, at least for Perry. Felt bad for the guys shooting third relay and team matches. Low 90's for those relays.

Re: Web Coverage at Camp Perry 2019?
Jim, if I can ask you a question, is this table where you set things up before you move to the tables in front of this one, or are those the tables for 25 yard shooting and you're getting ready to shoot at 50 yards? I'm guessing that's what it is.
One more question, maybe the camera exaggerates a little, but if you're shooting with steel sights, and the front sight is sharp, with the targets blurry, isn't it easy to get confused and shoot at the incorrect target?
You sure don't have very much room to work in - but you've got everything organized nicely.
I guess one last question - there are two yellow "posts" coming up from the table, one a bit taller than the other. What are they?

Re: Web Coverage at Camp Perry 2019?
Mike, those are my bungee cords to hold things stable. We had an 11 mph right to left wind.
Those are the 50 yd tables, then you move everything, including 9 targets rapidly to the 25 yd line.
Your target is numbered either black or white. I use a small dot on my lense. It encircles my target only. So, I generally keep my bullets off others targets.

Re: Web Coverage at Camp Perry 2019?
Jim, thanks for the reminder about the bungie cords. I knew I was forgetting something in my packing list.
Mike, the shooting positions are close to each other but with the spaces between the tables it evens out. Target spacing isn't much different from your average 50 yard outdoor range.
Of course people crossfire from time to time. If it never happened, then nobody would write their target number on their shooting hand.

Bungee cords!!! Now that I look, it's obvious! You have a dozen more extras, in case the wind comes up?
I think the camera is exaggerating how small the 50 yard targets look - that's not what they look like to me when I'm standing 50 yards away at my own range. It's probably a wide angle lens, on a mobile phone.
If there are six holes in your target, and the missing holes are on the other guy's target, how do they score his target?

Re: Web Coverage at Camp Perry 2019?
Crossfires are bad news. If somebody fires a shot on your target (11 holes), and it is a different caliber so the holes can be distinguished, they will score your ten shots. If the offending shot cannot be distinguished, you have two choices: accept the score for the lowest 10 shots OR refire the target. If you choose to refire, your score cannot exceed the highest 10 shots on the original target. Unless the offending shot is a 5 or 6, it is an ugly choice.
