Recovering Boo Boo’s
Over the the last year I have acquired a box of Boo Boo Bullets. Either a primer is upside down or it was rejected for one reason or another. I know I can pull the bullets (I have the hammer type puller) but what can I do with the cases that are primed? I figured I could remove the decap pin from my sizing die and just re use the case. Not sure it’s the safest to try and remove the primers. The cases that have primers upside down I figured I’d just put in the oil soak jar and call it a loss. Powder I’m not worried about, I can use it to fertilize the wife’s flowers.
Is there another options for cases that are primed? What are others doing?
Thanks a bunch

I just pull the bullets & then slowly run them through the sizer. So far(knocking on wood) I've never had one go off. Even ones that I've crushed when being primed. The only one I can recall is back in the 70's when I was using the lee wack a mole loader & got a bit overzealous when I primed one. Skid marks magically appeared in the BVD's.

I have removed the depriming pin from all my pistol dies. I hand prime everything and run the primed cases through the sizing die and on to the expanding/charging die. I deprime out in the garage with a universal depriming die. I rarely put a primer in upside down now, but when I do I just carefully pop them out wearing hearing protection. Maybe not the safest thing to do, but I never had one go off.

Go ahead and deprime them slowly. Put a plexiglass shield between you and the press if you must, but there is seldom any danger. Save them and re use them for practice. Same with the bullets unless those are mashed.

Slowly and gently de-prime with eye and ear protection. I never tried re-using them. That is new to me.

I bought a Universal Decapping Die and it is easy to safely deprime those boo boos, but as already said; go slow.

How would you like to go thru life knowing your name is boo boo?
As others said, Primers seldom go off unless struck. They can be crushed but not sheared .
I reuse them unless deformed.

In the tradition of cheap bullseye shooters, I too reuse decapped live primers. It is actually pretty hard to permanently deactivate them.bruce martindale wrote:How would you like to go thru life knowing your name is boo boo?
