any idea who built this pistol?
I just got this 1969 Colt Government and was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to who the smith may have been who built this. I'll attach pics. The only marking I found were the initials "F.G.M. 69" on the barrel

The stippling looks like Clark "tiger tooth". If you take off the slide and look at the firing pin housing, it may have some markings on it.

Hello,
They are not "tiger teeth" in their current state. Someone has taken a file to the front strap.
Nonetheless, I believe Jim Clark marked the slides. What is the stamp on the front of the bushing?

the stamp on the front of the bushing is cursive and I think it says "Micro"

Any stampings on disconnector rail inside the slide? All Clarks are marked there. Does top of barrel have barrel make; Colt?

Yes; the O.P. posted this query on another forum and I couldn't read the stamp in those photographs.

Built by a gunsmith named Fred Miller from southern Calif. He built 1911's in the 60's and 70's.
Have a NM Gold Cup he did some work on.

well I live in southern California, and this is a 1969 gun so that matches. Mine does not have these on the slide however

Re: any idea who built this pistol?
It might not have been a complete build by miller but perhaps a re-do of an early Clark?

Re: any idea who built this pistol?
Doubtful that it was touched by Clark. Stippling is too nicely aligned/spaced. Clark just free handed them. Disconnector rail would have Clark stampings as well. Barrel bottom lugs are not typical of Clark fit.
I've never heard of Miller. I started BE in 89 in So Cal and have never heard of him until now. Xringdave verified his existence lol.
