Winchester Service Grade 185gr FMJ-SWC Accuracy
Looks like their version of Federal Gold Medal Match. Has anyone tested this stuff for accuracy, especially at 50 yards? What were your results?

Our club bought 1k rounds for our junior shooters at a great price. I was curious about its accuracy. Last week I decided to try it in my Clark built Colt GC wad gun, which was built while Jim Clark was alive. After firing 10 Rounds off of sand bags at 50 yards with Winchester Service Grade 185 grain SWC, I did not need to put the gun in our Ransom Rest, nor did I need calipers to measure the group size, I needed a carpenter's rule. Terrible results, but it removed any questions regarding accuracy of that ammo in my gun. The same gun fed a diet of Zero 185 Jacketed HP will literally eat up the x-ring at 50 yards off of sand bags. But, the Winchester Service Grade ammo may perform well in other shooter's guns, just sharing my results.

Oh. That's like brown box. Maybe worse. Never mind my yellow box comparison above

Is this a current production product?
I can't seem to find it on the internet. Can you direct me to it? I might try some.
Thanks.

Beware the "Service Grade" stuff. We are seeing crimped primer pockets in the 9mm and 45. Loading with a Dillon 1050 it doesn't matter. Loading with other stuff you have to swage or cut the crimp out.

The Winchester "cheap stuff" has some of the most inconsistent QC that I've seen. It appears that it's the white-box stuff repackaged.
The Ranger T duty is excellent. Hot, not really suited for BE.

Strange, I’ve never seen any Winchester white box 185gr FMJ-SWC...got any pics of such before it was “repackaged” as this Service Grade ammo?Outthere wrote:The Winchester "cheap stuff" has some of the most inconsistent QC that I've seen. It appears that it's the white-box stuff repackaged.

My opinion of the White box/Service Grade ammo has not changed, based on personal experience.
