Springfield Operator Quality? Empty Springfield Operator Quality?

Post by Arthur 11/12/2019, 8:56 pm

Considering purchasing a Springfield Operator; 45 ACP , 5" bushing barrel, non adjustable night sights. I know the quality of the Range Officer is good. Can I also expect good slide to frame fit, barrel and bushing fit with the Operator?
Not expecting Bullseye accuracy, but I don't want to buy a dog either. Looking to shoot some ball for fun. Internet sale so I can't personally inspect.

Thanks

i have an operator and its pretty damn accurate. i love it. wouldn't necessarily use it for bullseye but its my second most accurate centerfire gun for sure.

I have the standard TRP (non rail) and it has a very tight frame to slide fit. It's as tight as my Baer, but lacks the great Baer finish. The amory kote (sp?) Isn't bad though. Looks better than parkerizing in my opinion.

Are we talking MC Operator or TRP Operator.....in any case, go TRP.

TRP is definitely a notch up on Springfield's quality ladder.

The one I am interested in is the MC Operator. Want to have a bushing barrel system, not a bushingless bull barrel of the TRP. Easier to have a gunsmith fit new if I want to upgrade the gun. Also keeps it legal for CMP, if I choose to go that way at some point.

Thanks
