Jack Best .45 Wadcutter
I may be purchasing a .45 Cal wadcutter in the near future. I believe the gun is based on a Springfield 1911 and includes a Kart barrel. The gun was accurized by a gunsmith named Jack Best. Does anyone have any info on the gunsmith? Form the limited research I did, he's since passed and was involved in military shooting in the southern U.S. This particular gun was purchsed in the late 80's early 90's at Perry.

Back in the 80's and 90's Jackie was one of the onsite gunsmiths at Perry every year. Did a lot of work on shooters' guns, including some minor stuff on one of mine. Had a good reputation. I never owned a gun he built, so no firsthand experience on that.

If the pistol has never been messed with by the shooter/owner your probably fine. Jackie built pretty nice pistols. I've worked on several over the years and they are typically good pistols. Price is everything on older pistols.

Shot 2660 and 2663 with one of Jackie's guns, along with some scores in the '50s (and more in the '40s, '30s, etc.)

One of the NRA Referees has Jackie Best guns and they all perform very well for him. They are prized possessions.
