208s Front Sight Height Empty 208s Front Sight Height

In the part list for a Hammerli 208s they list 9mm front sight posts. The stock sight is 8mm tall, what is the purpose of a taller front post ?

It moves the point of impact down.  I had to order one for my 208s because I ran out of rear sight adjustment.  I shoot center mass and even with the rear sight all the way down the POI was in the top of the black.  The 9mm front sight fixed it.
