Gun Box Key
Which key fits the Gun-Ho box (later model large box with plastic tray) with full doors on each side (side mounted latches)?
Research says its probably an Excelsior, but not sure.
Anyone know which key and specific number?
Thanks.

Re: Gun Box Key
I had success sourcing an old gunbox key at an old locksmith shop that happened to have one. As you know, they're all stamped and have no blanks available.
A luggage shop and maybe even an office supply,(file cabinet keys) may be alternatives.

Re: Gun Box Key
there are a bunch of vendors on Ebay selling Excelsior keys. One box I have uses the 151 style.

Yes.
But what would really help is a heads up on the probable number.
And they do vary with the different style and times for Gun-Ho, which is why I'm hoping someone has the number for the larger, later model, 2 full door boxes.
For example Excelsior has 6K11, 151, 42, KY78, etc., etc. keys.

Re: Gun Box Key
I just went to the hardware store and bought a hasp with key lock (in black) and only use the original locks as latches.
My box was less than perfect so it seemed "in character".

robert84010: Thanks, I'll give that one a try.
Ian: That would work, but I'd like to get both doors to open. One side is locked and the other is unlocked; which is usable, but I like to try and get stuff back to original when I can. Just kinda a hobby....
Thanks again.

Re: Gun Box Key
Is the number stamped on the lock? Before doing anything, look. These days, a lot of locks have the required key #s stamped on them. Makes it a lot easier to get into your desk drawers at work if you have forgotten the keys.CR10X wrote:...And they do vary with the different style and times for Gun-Ho, which is why I'm hoping someone has the number for the larger, later model, 2 full door boxes.
