I think the Brazos 160gr profile is better, there is more bearing surface.

Bob's Bullets' 160s are also really good, I have shot a few 10x targets with them.

Yeah I have those as well! Lol
What I noticed about Mikes is the point is longer so if someone has a pistol that doesn’t like short rounds and they nose dive these might be the cure! But damn they are almost twice as expensive

I shot that bullet at the short line for a few years with 4.1 of bullseye. I cast them myself but it was the same bullet profile. Worked fine for me.

James, we have that profile. It's a 155 grain and the price is super duper.

I found it on your website Steve! Thanks I will get some in a couple of weeks! Any feed back on them?
Can you tell us more and maybe a picture? Does the profile have a longer point than the 160?

I haven't loaded any myself. I'm partial to the 160's. But prior to having the correct equipment to process the 160's this profile was available and sold pretty well. I finally heard back from a gentleman who did speak highly of the 155 bullet. He ordered more and is quite happy. I didn't get any specifics of the load detail.

Is the 160 gr bullet only good for the short line or long line as well?
What is the advantage of it over, say, 200gr bullet? More accurate? Less recoil?

Re: Matt’s Bullets 160 SWC
It's great for both with some guns. I have found that 200's shoot slightly more accurately at 50 yards though. When the gun is set up for them, the 160's can be shot with less recoil than a 38 special (at least it feels like that). But some guns need more power to function so you end up a little "flashier" and with more recoil.javaduke wrote:Is the 160 gr bullet only good for the short line or long line as well?

Why isn’t the base of the 160 beveled? It makes reloading a lot nicer when the base has a bevel.

My experience has been they are as accurate as the 200's and 185s at 50yd with less felt recoil for the short line. I use 4.1 WST, .463 crimp

Might be an urban legend but I have always understood flat based is more accurate than bevel base. Any truth to this?

Re: Matt’s Bullets 160 SWC
Beveling bases began to make automatic reloading easier.
Many top tier shooters preferred flat base bullets for the increased accuracy they felt it provided

Re: Matt’s Bullets 160 SWC
There was a side by side comparison in Handloader magazine back in the day when 38 Special dominated PPC shooting. IIRC the author was John Zemanek? Anyway, he tested two 4 cavity Hensley and Gibbs #50 moulds one plain base and one bevel base. I believe he used two revolvers and he found that the bevel base was VERY slightly more accurate than the plain base.messenger wrote:swissyhawk wrote:Why isn’t the base of the 160 beveled?
