S&W Model 10 I just purchased
Does anyone have any info on the sight and did the barrel get replaced when this was modified?

Small picture and I'm not a PPC guy, but that looks to me like a custom barrel with an Aristocrat rib maybe?

Maybe Martin will chime in, but that’s a PPC revolver. Heavy match grade barrel installed and full length sight rib. Typically hammer is bobbed, yours is not. Heavy;) I can’t tell what sight model it is from the small pic. Name normally on it.

How can I post a larger photo? I can take one from the other side but it marked as Mascot 1 on the sight.

The late Travis Strahan, retired AMU gunsmith, made those ribs. I have one on a PPC revolver as well. Travis built Herschel Anderson’s 2680 nat’l record 45 pistol.

I am familiar with Travis Strahan's work on PPC guns. He had one of the early coil spring conversions for S&W revolvers. He also developed the Mascot 1 and Mascot 11 sight ribs. The rib on this gun does not look like neither of those. It still could be one of his designs. The Mascot 1 & 11 had a two piece rib. The upper which contained the front and rear sight would pivot on the lower. This enabled the relationship of the front and rear sight to always be constant. The 1 vs the 11 had to do with a conventional front & rear image vs, his alligator rib. The pic appears to reveal a thumb wheel aft. Ron Powers had a rib which offered that feature. One thing for sure, it is clearly an after market barrel.Jon Eulette wrote:Maybe Martin will chime in, but that’s a PPC revolver. Heavy match grade barrel installed and full length sight rib.
