Cancellations?
It's a couple months before our outdoor season, but only one month to our spring clinic. I'm helping arrange and run both.
Not unlike many groups of BE shooters we tend to be older. Has anyone heard of any leagues or matches being cancelled?
Sorry to be the one to bring this up.

Re: Cancellations?
I got an email earlier today from 'cranky' that he is canceling events. Maybe it's best if all events for the next 30 (or 60) days were to be cancelled.Aprilian wrote:..........Not unlike many groups of BE shooters we tend to be older...........
If feels like someone is nailing a big sign to Planet Earth, with one word on it: CLOSED

Re: Cancellations?
I'll find out early this coming week if our club's matches are going to continue or be cancelled. The next Bullseye Match is next Sunday.
That puts me on the spot - the smarter thing would probably be to stay home, regardless of how much I want to go.
I assume that it's still safe to drive places in my car, with the windows down. It's just "air". My range is mostly empty most days during the week, so I assume I can still go there and shoot. The concern is if there are lots of other people around, and I'm not sure how to define "lots". Three or four I think is fine. More than 15 is probably not.
I wonder if the major matches will be held at all during 2020, or postponed until later in the year.....

Supposed to have the PA state shoot next weekend. Didn't even think about the fact that it could be canceled. Guess I'll have to keep my ears open.

Re: Cancellations?
Interesting tidbit: The parking lot of the golf course located in virus central (Kirkland, WA.) was packed "Full" when I drove by on Thursday (warm and sunny day). There were lines waiting on the two greens I could see from the road. Have been driving past this golf course for over 40 years and have never seen it like that. MS parking lots are empty........

Re: Cancellations?
There was an outdoor match in central NC canceled for tomorrow, partially due to weather and partially for Coronavirus concerns that could affect some of the older shooters.
I have wondered if there may be some postponements of our weekly match to prevent trouble for our older guys at our local small town public range as well.
Schools/universities, city recreation centers and many large functions are having breaks extended or been closed or events cancelled in our town and state.
I would not want to cause one of my BE buddies in their mid-70s with existing health issues to become sick or worse.
Remember, you are your BE brother’s (and sister’s) keeper!
UPDATE- That shooting range is fully closed for now. All NC schools are closed min two weeks. All gatherings in NC over 100 people are banned.

Re: Cancellations?
I don't know about closing an indoor range, they generally have the best ventilation fans that suck out the air. Personally if you practice good hygiene and you should be washing your hands very well after shooting and stay away from people sneezing and blowing snot all over, I think you'd be okay. I know there a lot of what ifs out there, but think about it,you have to go out and buy groceries and gas and other stuff where crowds are. I could be wrong about all this and maybe should hang up shooting for this year.

I heard NYS Indoor Championship at Binghamton Rifle Club has been cancelled. I no longer see it on their club calendar. Sucks.

Agreed. That statement can be used as a pejorative, but I'm old and cynical enough now to capitalize on it also.

So has the Roslyn match leg and the Binghamton International Sectional...triple sux.
Mark my words, the nra will cancel the Nationals for the range they haven't even built.

If you read your history and how they treated the flu in 1918 you will find that one of the most used treatments was to place the sick in the "outdoors" in the sun and in plain old canvas tents. Something to be said for the "old" ways!
