Loaded 100 and boxed 700 (previously-loaded) this evening. Needed to have some productivity after spending most of the afternoon snoozing on the couch with the dog.

I found out today that ammo is scarcer here then I thought. In fact it is a better trading stock then silver. I won't be running out of anything soon.

I was poking around my loading room because it looked like I was missing a bunch of 45 Federal brass. I found 2,500 rounds loaded with 185 & 160 Brazos Hi-Tek in ammo cans. Also found 2 cases of CCI-SV I didn't know I had. Going to start organizing it and taking inventory on Monday after I wrap up my current project.

I've always felt that making sure the dog napped properly was a very productive use of my time.john bickar wrote:Loaded 100 and boxed 700 (previously-loaded) this evening. Needed to have some productivity after spending most of the afternoon snoozing on the couch with the dog.

Re: Before I get cabin fever.
Yesterday was my first day off in 13. I had planned to go the range.
Instead, I tore down 2 1911's, thoroughly cleaned them, finished swapping out trigger components so they are identical trigger pulls. I swapped out an older recoil spring and both sear springs.
Now is a good time to clean and maintain equipment. Dry firing is nice with freshly oiled and cleaned pistols. Since my winter range is closed, maintenance doesn't take away from shooting time.
Next, I go arrange the x,000 rounds in the basement so the .22 I ordered last week and the .45 I make (to cut the range craving) have a place to go.

Re: Before I get cabin fever.
Do you have good luck with the plated brass? I finally gave up on it and save it for revolver loads. They split easy and for some reason they don't hold their resizing very well. The chrome might make them too hard like Lake City brass. Just a comment from the peanut gallery.

I have so much of it. It seems to work ok. It’s not ideal but a lot of my brass was garnered in the time of police using 38s and they used nickel almost exclusively.

I can't argue with that. He's a damn good dog, and recently got a bath.STEVE SAMELAK wrote:I've always felt that making sure the dog napped properly was a very productive use of my time.john bickar wrote:Loaded 100 and boxed 700 (previously-loaded) this evening. Re: Before I get cabin fever.
Thanks Wobbley, I have shot a lot of new nickel platted with no problems. It is the reloads I gave up on. But only for the 52. Like I mentioned above I have no problem with my wheel guns. I just get a few fail to feeds in 52. I have enough 38 brass I can pick and choose. I think I am getting this shelter at home figured out.

I have reloaded almost all my pistol brass and am thinking about the 80-100 empty 30-06 cases that I have on a shelf.

So what's in them Ashley? Looks like a hbwc with ??? Inside?
I have been loading up my cast. Interesting...the cases with two cannelures in the middle are usually wadcutter brass and have a straighter inner wall. A #50 seated flush will bulge almost all other brass. You can prove the taper with how deep the shank of a 23/64 drill bit goes into the case. HBWC don't bulge because the base gets crushed in. Never tested (yet) the effects in a RR

2.6 BE, Speer HBWC. Mostly R-P and Winchester brass. Sorted at boxing.

Good News in Corona Virus Times:
My range is still open and I still have components to reload.
