1911 Deep Clean and Trigger pull weight Change
With time on my hands I decided to do a total disassembly on my 1911 wad gun to give it a total clean and lube. An unexpected result was the trigger pull was greatly reduced. Before cleaning and lube the trigger would lift 3.5 Lbs with weights. After it would barely lift 3 Lbs. I used TW25b on the trigger. My question is to bring the pull weight back to a legal amount should I bend the sear spring or clean and re lube with a different lube? That tw25b must be awfully slippery.

I would keep the lube and adjust the springs, which leaf and how much for each is another matter. Doesn't take much tho
Good luck

I use just an oil on the hammer hooks and never had the weight change after cleaning

If you are not having hammer follow issue simply bend the middle finger of the spring. Easier to get added weight than the sear spring.. shouldn't take much

The middle finger controls the disconnect, not the trigger pull weight, so be careful if you mess with it. The finger with the hook on it controls the trigger weight.jglenn21 wrote:If you are not having hammer follow issue simply bend the middle finger of the spring. uh,, actually both the fingers control the overall trigger weight..
yes, the middle pushes the disconnector up, but once up, the back of the trigger bow pushes on the disconnector and sear foot when the trigger is pressed thus the disconnect spring adds weigh to the pull.. the disconnect finger also controls take-up pressure. in addition to moving up and down the disconnector swivels back and forth.
hope that makes sense

I do know the relationship between the middle tine and its effect on trigger pull and the disconnect. My concern was for someone doing this for the first time, since I would caution them to tweak the hooked tine first before doing anything to the middle one. I guess I should not have been so brief.jglenn21 wrote:uh,, actually both the fingers control the overall trigger weight..

Thanks everyone for the replies. It took very little bending of the left and middle leafs to bring the pull weight up to 3.5 lbs. I was able to test fire and am pleased with the results.
