RUGER MK-IV TGT 10B - Bullseye/CMP Legal?
I keep look at the Ruger MK IV Target 10B with 10" barrel and thinking about how all that extra sight radius might help with iron sight shooting.
Ruger says it has a 10" barrel and Bullseye and CMP rules say "Barrel length may not exceed 10 inches (including the cylinder on revolvers)." But, with different ways of measuring barrels and manufacturers tending to round numbers and such, does anybody know if a Ruger 10 inch barrel is the same as a CMP 10 inch barrel?

I'm frequently confused, but I think they measure autos from the back of the chamber to the muzzle.

Semi-auto pistols are measured from the front of the chamber (breach face), not the back.
Bren, you are over thinking this. If Ruger says it is a ten inch barrel, it is a ten inch barrel. We all go by what the manufacturer says when checking pistols.
I measured the 5 1/2 inch barrel on my HS Victor, it is a hair under 5 1/2 from the muzzle to the front of the breach face.

Possibly splitting hairs, but isn't the back of the chamber the mating surface for the breach face?

Actually, as produced its not legal for CMP (Distinguished/Service or Match Pistol) or NRA.
For NRA and CMP the sight radius is too long, over 10 inches. (Check out the CMP General Rules for .22 D Pistols 4.1.6 d; General Rules for Match Pistols 4.2.1 c; and NRA .22 3.4)
You have to read all the rules.....

Regardless of the rules: Unless your name is Bickar or Rhodes or have HM after your name, the LONG sight radius will drive you bananas.

22 Rimfire Pistols. Rule 4.1.6 (d):
"The total sight radius may not be more than 10.0 inches as measured from the rear surface of the rear sight to the highest point of the front sight."
"The total sight radius may not be more than 10.0 inches as measured from the rear surface of the rear sight to the highest point of the front sight."

Which is why one of the older High Standard “Spacegun” pistols with a 10 inch barrel had the rear sight dovetailed into the rear of the barrel.

Rule 6.4 defines the pistols that are legal for this match:
?
Rule 6.4 in the NRA Precision Pistol Rules (2020) is for Range Standards - Distance
Rule 6.4 in the CMP Pistol Competition Rules (2020) is for Target Maintenance

The correct spot to look in the CMP Pistol Competition Rule Book (2020) is 4.1.6 (d)
Same as above: 10 inches rear surface of rear sight to highest point of front sight.
Pardon my error.
