Most popular .22 ammo
Is there a list somewhere that shows what .22 ammo the competitors at Camp Perry used last year?

From my personal recollection CCI Standard Velocity, SK pistol match, Eley Tenex, and Lapua Center-X. Other various Eley, SK, and Lapua probably on the line too. I am sure I am missing some, but I would assume that a bit of everything was on the line at perry last year.

Re: Most popular .22 ammo
I know of no list of ammo used by competitors.
Probably the most common is CCI std. vel. due to positive ignition, very reasonable accuracy, price and availability.
My testing has showed most all "target" ammo is accurate enough for fifty yards. I used HS and Kart pistols and found nearly all ammo was in the 1 1/8" to 1 1/2" CTC grouping. IIRC all ammo was capable of a 100-10X score.
Worst ammo consistently was Remington SV.
Brand used may depend on reliability in your pistol chamber and rim shape for extraction.
The high dollar .22 rounds tend to be slightly more accurate but not enough to justify the price. My best groups were around 1" with the high dollar ammo.
You will gain more points practicing with CCI,than buying Eley for a big match.

It would be interesting to know what the top 20 shooters used for .22 ammo. It also would be interesting to know what pistols they use.
Back when I raced motorcycles, the brand name and model bikes each rider used was either printed or announced at each race. It wouldn't be hard for pistols used to be published along with the top shooters names.

After the Blazer has lived in the Eley boxes for a while, it shoots just like Blazer! Very well!
But it makes the other shooters feel better seeing the Eley boxes.....

Re: Most popular .22 ammo
I put CCI SV in some Tenex boxes the AMU guys gave me...
Now if I could just figure out how to get that nice Eley smell when fired...
I've been looking to try the other way: put my SK Pistol Match in Remington Thunderbolt boxes.
When I was a mechanic on racing teams I would have brand labeled boxes I would set up around our pit area that I would suddenly move into the trailer if I caught anyone noticing them.

There’s actually better psychology behind the latter approach. Especially when a guy is shooting some Eley Pistol Tenex (“because it’s the Nationals”) he just bought and you shoot some nice targets.Sa-tevp wrote:I put CCI SV in some Tenex boxes the AMU guys gave me...

No list that I have seen, but if you follow the ISSF YouTube channel you’ll see a lot of Pardini and TENEX.Nopro wrote: Is there a list of pistols and ammo used by Olympic shooters?

That's awesome. You're my kind of crazy.
Re: Most popular .22 ammo
I used to like putting all my .45 ammo on the bench in a local Hardware Store plastic bag, for visual effect, but it's easier to use my Dillon plastic boxes to load my magazines.
Re: Most popular .22 ammo
I learned that putting cheaper SV such as CCI, Aguila etc in Eley 10X boxes will improve accuracy if stored in them for a long enough period. Usually if there is no performance improvement it is because the storage time was not long enough.

Re: Most popular .22 ammo
There was a time years ago when people from the ammunition companies would come down the firing line at Perry asking what ammo you were using. This was done right after you moved to the firing line. They carried clip boards and would record what hundreds of competitors were using. Back then there was not the big selection of .22 ammo that we have now.
