Cleaning new dies beforemuse
Is Hoppe's Number 9 acceptable for cleaning new dies before installation?
I used to use WD-40, but from what I've read here, that's not a good idea.
I'm thinking of the protective stuff that new dies are coated with when they're sold.

Since you live in Florida, I'd recommend to clean and wipe down often with Kroil oil. (and a good wipe with it for any metal on your presses to.)
Don't get drippy wet, just a thin film will do. As with guns, put on all you want but wipe off all you can.
Any dies that you store should probably be covered with some Rig grease and carefully sealed and put away.
Humidity is the silent killer of good dies.

I spray Rem Oil on my dies before use and as stated, wipe of all that I can. They get re-sprayed after use and before being put away. I do this even for my S/S Dies.

OK, I may still have Remington oil, and I definitely do have Kroil.
As to humidity, as long as the AC is working, that doesn't seem to be a problem.
Oil liberally, and wipe off as much as possible. This might be a good time to clean all my dies.
