Internet National Match Course League Week #24
This website is all about Bullseye shooting so lets have a NRA Precision Pistol 300pt National Match Course.
Follow the NRA Precision Pistol Rules.
Shoot at any official distances with official targets or scale targets to make it basement friendly for pellet guns.
Week #24 is now open. Shoot and post your score and information here on or before 8/2/2020. At that time week #24 will close and week #25 will be open.
Everyone is welcome to join in. No membership or enrollment needed. Simply post your information.
Post the following information
Name or forum name:
Date:
Distance: 50/25yard, 25yard, 50 foot, 25 foot.....
Indoor/Outdoor:
Pistol:
Caliber:
Sights:
Shooting aids: (we're here because we like competition, if we need to deviate from the rules to continue to enjoy, please do so. I would rather have someone with a shake shoot two handed and enjoy, than sit out. We'll all be there sooner or later.)
Post a picture of the targets if you can. It's fun to see.
Score Slow Fire:
Score Timed Fire:
Score Rapid Fire:
I'll summarize the results and post them weekly.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Looking forward to shooting with everyone.

Re: Internet National Match Course League Week #24
JKR - good shooting as usual.
I've been mostly concentrating on SF in training, shot matches last 2 weekends and had a lot of preparation drama for those (long story!). Today I was testing my 22's in SF and my SIG P210 for Service Pistol, but I also managed to squeeze in a CF 900. So, your challenge for next week is a Centerfire NMC (but I'm guessing that you shoot your 45 in both CF/45 anyhow?).
28Jul20
Outdoor - sun/breeze
NRA 50' targets shot at 45'.
Pardini HP32ACP 5"
Ultradot 1"
My reloads; 60XTP over 1.8N310 in Starline brass, Federal SPP's.
SF - 95
TF - 99
RF - 94
NMC = 288

My goal for this summer is to improve my shooting with the 45. I’ve vowed to leave the 32 in the drawer and have been training with a Nelson conversion on my 45’s lower. So yes, CF will be shot with the 45.

That’s great shooting Garth!
So far I haven’t been able to produce anything that even looks like a 22 score with the Nelson.

Re: Internet National Match Course League Week #24
Thanks Jim.
I was mainly just training slow fire yesterday but, I thought I would shoot a couple timed and rapids for the NMCs.
Just remember all you have to do is focus on the dot and keep squeezing the trigger and they will go in the middle. Takes some time to trust that concept but its what Travis does. It was what I was working on yesterday.
Garth.

Finally got back to it.
SARO .45, stock open sights
185 SWC/4.0 BE
25 yd. Outdoor
SF 79 2X
TF 79 2X
RF 84 0X
NMC 242 4X
Happy with SF, not good on the TF. Treating it mentally like sloppy SF with too much thinking. RF is better because I can make myself focus on sights and trigger and accept the wobble. Was seeing too much target and trying to force the sights back in on the TF. Will keep working on it.

Mike,
Why do you think your sustained fire targets are so much better than your slow fire?

Re: Internet National Match Course League Week #24
'JKR' - simple, I got to the range late, not having shot this Model 52 recently. Slow fire target was also used for me getting used to the gun and figuring out how to adjust the sights. Timed Fire target was after adjusting the sights, and more importantly, getting used to the gun again. I made another small change down and left for the Rapid Fire target. There's another reason, slow Fire target was at 25 yards, and the other targets were at 15 yards.
To be honest, I was more concerned with not disturbing the gun when I fired, than with anything else. I guess I could have re-shot the slow fire target, but that felt like "cheating".
After doing the above match targets, I set up the next target at 50 yards, and fired ten rounds at it, also two-handed. Maybe not so good, but it's still the first time all ten holes showed up on my target, and not the backing board. Everyone here is telling me to ignore the errors, and only concentrate on the better shots, so at 50 yards I'm thrilled with the results!
As you'll see, this was scored the way I used to score targets...

Re: Internet National Match Course League Week #24
Mike,
I'll offer a training exercise for you, based on this 50 yards targets.
Shooting two-handed, you goal is to have all shots in the black. This is achievable, since you only have two shots outside the black in this target.
Now, for every shot in the 7-ring, you have to unload the pistol and shot three dry fire shots. Dry firing in this context means repeating your ENTIRE shot process with an unloaded pistol. Then reload and continue shooting.
For every shot in the 6 ring, you have to unload the pistol and shoot five dry fire shots. Then reload and continue shooting.
This will achieve two results:
1. After every not so good shot, you get to regroup by dry firing.
2. Since after every not so good shot you will have unload the pistol and dry fire, this will introduce an element of healthy tension and make you much better focused on repeating your shot process faithfully and getting the shots to land in the black as the result.
Once you are able to shoot two consecutive targets with all shots in the black, make this harder by setting the next goal of shooting all shots inside the 9 ring.
After that, move to one-handed shooting.
This should keep you busy for a few months
Regards,
Oleg.

Sounds very logical. Thank you.
I'll also do the same thing with my other guns.
