32 ACP loading press recommendation
Looking for recommendation for a press for 32 ACP for bullseye
Dillon dies not recommend the 750 due the small cartridge size
the 550 is a manual indexer - would prefer an automatic one
if only Dillon made dies for the SDB that I already have
thanks in advance for the feedback

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
I have owned a lot of Star's over the years and I love them. They don't make them any more, but Star Machine Works, now in New Jersey has some that he will recondition for you.

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
HSM,
I have a newly converted Star Universal in 32ACP with a lot of extras. Spent a lot on it, but I've got too many things to deal with right now and I am probably never going to use it seriously, so probably best to let it go. Please PM me if you are interested.

The Dillon SDB is a nice little progressive for smaller calibers, I loaded 32 swl on one.

Yes it is - I called Dillon today and asked if they had any plans for ACP dies
They said it will never happen - and recommended the 550

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
I load my 32 rounds on a 650. After atleast 15k rounds I think it's fine. I do crush the occasional case if I go too fast. I cannot verify, but I read the AMU was using 1050s for the 32 a few years ago. I don't think the press matters as much as the process.

Thanks for the info
I was hoping to find some one with Dillon 650 or 750 experience For this round
Was surprised when the technician at Dillon said that 750 was too large for the 32 ACP -

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
I load my 32ACP on Dillon 650. Not sure what they meant by "too large", I never had any problem I couldn't resolve by means of adjustments.
I use Hornady dies but I don't really think it matters. But I did replace the powder bar with the Uniquetek micrometer kit.

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
Also, see the caliber conversion kit for 650/750 product page https://www.dillonprecision.com/xl-750-xl-650-caliber-conversion-kit_8_2_23804.html , 32 Auto conversion kit is listed there. So I guess it is safe to assume that 32ACP on 650 and 750 is supported officially
Oh, and last but not least (perhaps the most important), I highly recommend powder tube / expander from PhotoEscape https://www.photoescapeinc.com/products/powder-funnel32.html , it really makes a huge difference.

Thanks Javaduke!
I have seen the photo escape Inc products - if I go with the Dillon I would get their funnel - I have read good reports for the product

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
The 650 seems to be working fine for me with .32 acp. You need to slow down a bit. I use the Hornady dies and love the sleeve in the seater die. For crimp I use the Redding die. Use Photoescapes expander and you should be good to go.

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
Interesting Lee setup James, can the powder measure be set to 1.3 grains for the short line? That APP is a little rocket

It’s the Auto Breech Lock Pro
Station 1 is the Lyman M die expander
Station 2 is the auto drum
Station 3 is the lee seater and bullet feeder
Station 4 is the lee factory crimp die

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
Most likely the sizing is done in the factory crimp die. Unlike the pocket pistols, match pistols likely have smaller chambers so you can get away with that.

Re: 32 ACP loading press recommendation
Yes it’s the M die! My bad
Since I use a breech lock press it is not a big deal at all to swap out to deprime and resize at a different time.
Actually when you load up the tubes this press hands down is the fastest I have ever seen doing that

I like to wet tumble my brass so I resize and deprime before I do anythingJames Hensler wrote:

I decap mine and tumble before loading, but I don't resize them first.
